The new disc of old classic Feat tunes helped me remeber why I fell in love with the band in the first place. With musicians such as Inara George, Brooks and Dunn, Jimmy Buffet and Bela Fleck adding their musical talents to the mix, the disc was consistently tasty from the first track to the last.I would tell any audiophile to put this disc on their "must play" list, and I would love to see some or all of the contributers on tour with the band at a location near me soon.

Waiting for Columbus [Live] [Original recording reissued] [Original recording remastered]
If you can't tell the diference this makes then get an up to date CD player. Wow, the best live album has a new standard. Man O Man get you some cuz it's a slap up grin and goes good with everything.
This monster gets a go through Oz and comes out shinny, bigger and mo edge. I like it low and LOUD and I think it likes me too.
Thanks for this recording remastered a treasure that brings up the spirit.
Cough up the coin now, it's nuthing but what you want anyhow.

Mixing blues, New Orleans jazz and rock 'n' roll in a potent mix, Dixie Chicken proved to be a watershed album for the band. Their third album was, along with "Feats Don't Fail Me Now", one of their finest without a single weak track. Opening with the title track and then following immediately with the soulful "Two Trains" (which Lowell George later re-recorded for his only solo album "Thanks I'll Eat It Here"),and then drifts into acoustic blues with "Roll Um Easy" (available as a re-recording by George on the Little Feat box set "Hotcakes and Outtakes" an unreleased track from his solo album as well).
The song is probably best known for "Fat Man in The Bathtub" and while that IS a great song, there's so much more here to be heard that ... Read More:

I am so heartened to see so many five-star reviews here! Oh, yeah, Sailin' Shoes is a wonderful record--pure pleasure, really. Think Rubber Soul, the Replacements' Hootenanny, Beck's Odelay--Sailin' Shoes is electric (and acoustic), eclectic, eccentric and oh so alive. Not totally ready for primetime (that's Dixie Chicken), but all the better for it. I hate people telling me the plot details of a movie, so I'll just say--how many records are funny, surrealistic, totally rockin', AND lovable? Check it out!

"Feats Don't Fail Me Now" is arguably the greatest studio album from Little Feat. There really isn't a bad track in the lot, and the highlights are among the best of the best. The album is upbeat, the musicianship is first rate (Lowell George's slide guitar work is especially brilliant), and the material is top notch, all of which leads to a superior album.
My favorite on the CD is the opener, "Rock and Roll Doctor", which to me is the most autobiographical of all of George's songs. The slide work and vocals intertwine perfectly, although I think the best single recording of the song is the live version from the "Waiting For Columbus" sessions. "Oh Atlanta" is a somewhat more mainstream offering from Bill Payne, and while pleasant is not as distinguished ... Read More:

Some people claimed that, with Lowell George having died in 1979, Little Feat had no right to reunite in 1988, but their complaining should get them beds in community residences for the mentally ill. The truth is, the band features many longtime members in its reunion incarnation, including guitarist-singer Paul Barrere, and with slide guitarist Fred Tackett and percussionist Sam Clayton, as well as originals Bill Payne (keyboards) and Richie Hayward (drums), in tow, you get a great recreation of the classic Little Feat sound and style. In addition, singer-guitarist Craig Fuller does a great approximation of George's vocal style. As a result, this is a record that George would be proud of, so all of the complaining was unjustified.

The prototypical shoulda-been-bigger 70s band, the Feats hit their stride here. One of rock's finest live albums, Columbus showcases Payne's hot keys, the band's tight harmonies, a spankin' rhythm section, and two great lead players. Lowell is a hell of a singer to boot, and has moments of slide genius (Sears socket!). This is a best-of from the Feat catalog (almost...lots of fine tunes in there), and every track is smokin'. The TOP horns fit in sweetly.
These boys were out to have a good time, and it shows.
Many a party has gone off the rails while this played...

I am, by no means, a LF completist but I do like a lot of their music. I have 10 LF albums featuring each of their lead vocalists : Lowell George (7), Craig Fuller (1) and Shaun Murphy (2). I also have this compilation - it was bought for me by someone who didn't realize that I already had most of the tracks.
I suppose this album, like many compilations, is aimed at people who like the artist in question but have never actually got round to buying the original albums. If this is you, and you are reluctant to 'fork out' for most of LF's back-catalogue, then you could do far worse than buying this album. Also, it is an excellent introduction to the band's early work for those who might only be familiar with LF's output from the 1980s onwards. 'As Time Goes By' is also ... Read More:

Used to have this LP. Loved it. Now I have the CD - thanks to Amazon - and still love it. One of the best, most underrated bands of all time, Little Feat was more a "band's band" than a darling of the listening public. Hoy!-Hoy! is a career-spanning collection of rarities, live stuff and off-the-wall covers (Leiber & Stoller's "Framed" is awesome and hilarious all at once). Those who love great ensemble music already know this about the band, but Little Feat were adept at most any musical style, from country to blues to fusion-y jazz extended jams. All are represented here - even a proto-punky version of "Teenage Nervous Breakdown."
A great document (even has the liner pics & info originally included as a LP-sized booklet with the album release) of a great band and of a ... Read More:
