Listening to this new CD takes me back to the "rocker" days of my youth. I loved it and often put it in a 6 CD rotation with Delbert, Willie and Ray Charles!!!

I am now only beginning to get into Van Morrison though I've been aware of him for a while. Who hasn't heard Brown Eyed Girl or Gloria on the radio. This album is probably a good step for some one like me who is just getting started however this album has 21 tracks and his Greatest Hits is a 2 CD set yet neither have Tupelo Honey, and this one is missing In The Mysty. This album would have been complete with those two tracks and there's a couple on here I would have gladly traded for them. So I will now have to add Moondance at some point to get In The Mysty and buy the album Tupelo Honey to get that track. I thought I remembered that song in the Big Chill but it isn't on the soundtrack, so I could be mistaken. One other beef is this album ... Read More:

This is a truly great cd. I had the album years ago and it is great to listen to it again. Every song is awesome, and the lyrics and instrumentals are great as are the vocals!

...that anyone should consider this a classic album. The man himself has been hit and miss his whole career. Studio albums, live gigs, you can never be sure which Van Morrison is going to show. So, too, his live albums. 1994's "A Nght in San Francisco" is one of the truly great live albums, the band, the Man, the guests, the music firing on all cylinders. But "Too Late" is the Van only the blindly loyal would be happy to spend money on: mediocre band fronted by a guy who's just going through the motions, almost DARING his audience to enjoy some of the great songs -- "Into the Mystic," "I Believe to My Soul" -- he butchers.

This double album is representative of V.M.'s best recent stuff. The fact that the sublime "Shenandoah" and "Meet Me in the Indian Summer" (Orchestral version) are included is alone worth the price of purchase. I've probably listened to Shenandoah 30 times already; it's a soul-stirring beauty of a song.
Polygram ceased production of its portion of Van-The-Man's catalog, resulting in 29 titles, two-thirds of his entire recorded output, remaining frustratingly unavailable for the past several years. Even more regrettably, sixteen of those OOP titles had been fabulously remastered and re-released in 1998. Accordingly, prices for these had soared, especially for the remastered titles.
Then, in late 2007, The Announcement! All 29 OOP titles would be re-released in 2008! With new remastering! Extra tracks! Even mini-sleeve editions from Japan!
Well, fellow audiophiles and mini-sleeve aficionados, the hyperbole is unfortunately only half-true: Those 16 1998 remastered titles? Except for the bonus tracks, the 2008 re-releases are the ... Read More:

It will take some time but Veedon Fleece will make it to the top ten albums of all time. The more time passes from its release and the more it seems relevant and timeless. I have been listening to Van all my adult life since I was 15 in 1975, and finally if I needed to choose one Van album I wouldnt hesitate to choose this one.
It won't get you inmediate pleasure , this cd needs many repeated listening until you get it, but once you get into it you'll find new insights each time you listen to it again. This is Van's peak, no wonder he took a 3 years hiatus from recording after he finished this album.
Ths new sound is better indeed than the previous remaster, but Van has lost a lot in the transfer from vinyl to digital. The best thing is to listen ... Read More:

I've been a huge Van Morrison fan since my early twenties. I started buying all his music until 'The Healing Game'. I stopped there because he was releasing an average of 2 albums per year, and my financial status was becoming at risk. I am not a fan of compilations at all. I just bought this CD in a whim and I still don't know why. I may have all the songs in here except for a couple, but the quality of every track is excellent. There is not one single song that is not good. Perhaps the Pink Floyd song is helping selling this compilation a lot, since it appeared in 'The Departed', in a very interesting moment in that movie. I already had it in the 'The Wall' concert of Roger Waters in Berlin, but anyway ... This compilation may help getting a good overview of Morrison's music to those who still ... Read More:
