Beethoven Lives Upstairs is a delightful way to introduce Beethoven's work to young and older students. Be careful telling young students about his deafness. One six year old dissolved in tears and couldn't play Beethoven for another year!

Our family has listened to almost the whole "Classical Kids" series and I must say the whole series is such excellent work.

The words are clearly spoken, the story flow very good and the music provided good dramatic emphasis at the right parts. My young kids were captivated. I'm just happy that they have developed an appreciation for classical music through this series which is their first exposure to this genre, alongside with popular cartoons on TV (which I try to limit!)

Mozart's Magic Fantasy: A Journey Through 'The Magic Flute'

I'm a general music teacher for grades K-2. I was a vocal major in college, and I am an opera singer. I really wanted to do an introduction to opera with my 2nd graders, and I think this CD is a great tool to do just that. The Magic Flute is one of my favorite operas, and it's a perfect story for kids. The child narrator really makes the opera more approachable for children, and the performers have very clear, expressive voices, so the story is easy to follow.

Classical Kids: Hallelujah Handel!

We love the cd's in this series. We listen to them on car drives and they have added so very much to our lives. Thanks to this series my 7 year old daughter can recognize the compositions of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Vivaldi while listening to the classical station on the radio. What a fun way for a family to become familiar with classical music.

But the story line of this one is a bit too sad for small children. If the cd had a warning, something like " best for children over 9 years old", or something like that I would have appreciated it. My daughter became quite frightened listening to the story and so I put it away. Maybe in a few years.....

Classical Kids: Collection

I enjoyed reading the reviews of parents whose kids have recently discovered "Classical Kids." I'm about to order the boxed set for my kids, ages 21, 19 and 16 because the nineteen-year-old, who has a college radio show and loves a wide variety of music, remembers this series (then only on cassette) with great affection and wants to hear them again. Those of you wondering whether it's worth it or not to try to introduce kids to classical music this way, be assured it works. We've turned one of Mr. Bach's lines into a family "saying:" "the more you study, the more you know; the more you know, the more you appreciate; the more you appreciate, the more you love." A great series!

The stories on CD are well written and very entertaining. I listened through all 3 CDs in one sitting when I got them! What's more, its sound quality is very good. I have other classical music CDs for kids and almost always I'm disappointed with the sound quality. (Violines sound like they have flu!)

This is a great buy for kids of all ages!!!

Vivaldi's Ring of Mystery is a wonderful story of a young orphaned girl who finds herself a pupil of Vivaldi at the orphanage he taught at in 18th century Venice. She meets new friends at the orphanage and befriends a gondalier, has a mysterious adventure involving a note and an enchanted violin, and finds out in the end something new and exciting about herself. The entire story is set to Vivaldi's music as well as incorporated into the story. Your child will love this fairytale story and learn to appreciate classical music in the process. It's great in the car or at nap time and it's not just for girls, my 4 and a half year old son enjoyed the stroy and the music as much as anyone. It's soothing, calming, and intriguing all at once.

The Best of Mozart

I was explaining to a friend once, "Why do we teach our children to love insipid music? They only love Barney because we exposed them to it." In response, my friend bought this for me as a shower gift, and I love it. Mozart is excellent for little developing brains, and they've selected tracks that are kid-pleasing (no huge dynamics swings or dissonance, etc). My child (now two) likes it a lot. But, the last 2 tracks are excerpts from their other Mozart product, which is a CD containing a fantasy about landing inside the story of the Magic Flute. The loud thunderstorm, screams about a dragon, etc totally destroy any lullaby use for the CD and any mood the music has created unless you burn a new copy without those tracks (which is what I did).
