Once again I feel compelled to comment on Emmylou's music. When I first saw this disk I read various reviews here whining that this album is a "downer" and the like. I smiled to myself and bought it without a second thought. I would have bought it no matter what the reviews said. Yes, Emmylou sings about pain, but she also sings about redemption and perseverance, the dawn that follows the darkness. Anyway, what price do you put on music that brings tears to your eyes?

But I am writing just to comment on one track from this disk. "All That You Have Is Your Soul", a song that did not grab me when I heard the author's version two decades ago, is rescued here and made Emmylou's own. The song includes the lines: "hunger only for ... Read More:

Many months ago, I ordered the CD "Raising Sand" from Amazon.com. I received a defective CD that had obviously been returned,repackaged and then sent to me in response to my order. I corresponded with Amazon and was told to return the CD and I would receive a replacement. I returned the CD and as yet have never received a replacement CD. I have been jacked around with excuses, but no CD. Keep my money and the CD. I don't have the time to waste on a shyster operation. You are a bunch of crooks. I may order from your outside suppliers - I've never had a problem with themn - but I will never order another product directly from Amazon.com.

Trace Adkins won me over totally after seeing him in concert in March.He is a great entertainer and has a wonderful deep voice to listen to. I enjoy variety in my country music and this cd delivers that. He is able to sing the funny sarcastic songs as well as the heart felt ballads. You're Gonna Miss This never fails to bring a tear to my eye and not too many songs do that to me. When you can touch my heart with your music I am a fan for life. Wonderful CD!

I'm a long time XPN listener. And thanks to listener supported stations like this I was lucky enough to hear 2 cuts a week off of Glen's new CD each week leading up to the release. I'm glad I did. I couldn't wait to get this CD and all the previous reviews do a much better job of going into the nitty gritty of the record. You would never know the guy is 72. I think it's great how older artists can just record what they want at this point in their careers and not be tied into worrying about sales. This album also makes you want to go out and research the artists that originally did the songs. I'm looking forward to it and many spins of this great set. Thanks GC!
