While there are gems in this box set, there is bit of so-so material. "The Further Adventures of Nick Danger" (aka "Cut 'em off at the Past!") is, of course, brilliant, but most Firesign fans already own that. "Three Faces of Al," which I had never heard before is quite enjoyable, though doesn't approach the genius of the original. "The Case of the Missing Shoe" has some great moments. The first three Parts of "Shack Out on the Alien Highway" are completely improvised and just don't work. But parts 4 through 7 are partially scripted and quite funny. If you're a hard core Firesign fan you have to have this, unless you have copies of all the tracks, including a bootlegged live performance.

I had never listened to something by Garrison Keiler before but found that this CD was very entertaining. I found myself laughing and crying and loving my time just sitting and listening. Well worth your money and time.

I was running errands on a Saturday with my 13 year old son. We had WOTW in the car CD player, and after some silence, he suddenly remarked, "I can't believe I'm being drawn into this". He and I realized that we would actually stop breathing, listening to the story unfold. A great father/son moment, like watching "Casablanca". With material like this, you can't miss. It still has the power to grab you, if you let yourself go for an hour. This truly was a "Golden Age".

Abbott and Costello are comedy classics. Their fast-paced dialogue will keep you laughing even if you've heard the routines before. The quality is tinny and sounds scratchy if you're used to the smoothed out quality of digitized recordings, you may not like this CD; however, if you remember listening to the duo on scratched vinyl, this may be your lucky day, because the CD sounds like their originals. This is a lot of fun for the whole family.

MILL CREEK ENTERTAINMENT's JACK BENNY: LAUGH OUT LOUD is a repackaging of the first two DVDs from last year's quadrapack, BEST OF JACK BENNY. This manufacturer consistently offers good-to-average-quality audio and video transfers of public domain material at a most reasonable price.
The Jack Benny Program aired on radio from 1932 to '55. Many of that show's scripts were recycled for television, beginning in 1950. Benny's CBS-TV series ran until 1965. The core cast (on radio and TV) changed little over the decades: Dennis Day replaced tenor Kenny Baker early on; Bob Crosby (Bing's younger brother) took over for bandleader Phil Harris in 1952.
At one time or another, almost every Hollywood, radio and TV star guested ... Read More:

I saw the program on PBS and really enjoyed it, so I bought the CD. The CD is an audio version of the program. There are several wonderful songs which I still listen to regularly. I recommend that you buy it if you've enjoyed his other program and know his style. He's a storyteller with humor. I really like his style.

Here's what I love about this box set - everything! It has all the tunes you would want that are related to music, but more importantly, it has the sound bites that will always be remembered. I have traveled to 17 MLB baseball stadiums and have used a video editing software to make a personal "documentary" of my trips (I did it for myself and friends I travel with). I used music and sound bites from this set to enhance my movie.
Simply put, this is just a great compilation. I have yet to find something better out there.
