I had heard an review on National Public Radio and since my husband is a big blues fan, I thought I'd try it. This was a wonderful surprise! We love the CD and would recommend it to anyone - whether they are a major blues fan or not.

The name of this album should be "I Am the Greatest!" because that is what this album is for Stevie Ray. Any blues/rock lover will absolutely wear this CD out because it is the vary essence of SRV music. The only CD left to buy is his Live at Austin City Limits, his best performance ever in my opinion!

I love this C.D. The band has a lot of variety in their music. The are authentic Native Americans and they sound just great.

I read somewhere once that if you really want a composite of what Stevie Ray Vaughan was all about, musically, all you need is this DVD. I totally agree. I have a half dozen SRV discs or tapes but nothing tops this.

You get two concerts, one on each disc. The first is the "controversial" 1982 concert at Montreux (in Switzerland) and the other is the 1985 return trip to Montreux. The first was "controverial" in the reception Vaughan and his band received during and immediately after the performing: booing! It is shocking to hear. I've never heard an artist booed on a disc put out for public release, but it's in here. (There were a lot of cheers, too.) Of course, the booing and catcalls were totally unwarranted. There are fine reviews of this CD, some with historical background,. others, with an appreciative ear, most know better, esp. more than me.

I would only suggust that Jr. Wells, Buddy Guy, Jack Myers, oughta try to get reparations from Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Siegal-Schwall Band, Electric Flag, and all other Chicago imitative blues bands.

There are some truly haunting performances here, and some funny ones, and some of everything, really. This stuff is so far deeper and weirder and spookier than any folk I've ever heard. It's the motherlode; Harry Smith wandered around and got these recordings before radio started, and thus we get true folk music, passed down the generations and from that area, or from the motherland of the musicians, with the spirit of the New World.
The vibes are palpable, varied, and intense. Lots of "mistakes", but so much feeling that missed notes only add to the experience.
If you've ever liked any folk music at all, whether Leadbelly, the Seegers, the Carter family, early Dylan, or if you need to know where real country music comes from, this is your collection.
