Hi - I am an Aussie bloke who saw the film with my girl last night and I loved it and thought it was an ok movie.
There is a piece of music in the film where they are enjoying a BBQ on the pier. An old man starts to sing with a fiddle (violin) playing as his musical backup. Is this piece of music on the original soundtrack and if not, does anybody know what it is and where I can buy it?
It was just fabulous. There was so much feeling and meaning by the old man singing the song, it made the price of the movie ticket well worth it.
Good movie - it beats the hell out of seeing 453 "4 wheel drive Hummers" exploding in a thousand pieces on 5th Avenue.
What really enoys me (and I have fallen for it many times), ... Read More:

From the moment when the MC announces "Brian Setzer and his 17-piece big band" on through Brian's "Thank You And Good-Night" amidst the last wild applause from the reprise of "Rock This Town" on Disc 2, this is among the most electrifying live albums I've ever heard! High energy...a performer who loves what he does, does it damn well, and knows how to communicate that to his band..er..ORCHESTRA and to his audience.
GREAT STUFF!
What is it? Rock n' roll? Big Band Swing Jazz? Urban blues? A maddening amalgam of 'em all? Who knows, and frankly, who cares? It Makes You Feel Good...so What more could you want???

Score one more for Rhino. This label really does know how to find obscure cuts and bring them into standout various artist collections. The only gripe I could have is this disk sounds a bit monaural in a mix, but I'll still use it--it's fun to mix up a little blues with the typical sugary Christmas sentiment.
What can I say about this collection that has not been said? Just add Lightning Hopkins, John Lee Hooker, Canned Heat and the rest of the crew in and you've got a mix that'll make your season funky.

An agreeable and pleasing music selection from the series. Most music is ecclectic, but in a good way, that fairly well cross-sections or samples the wide array of quality music appearing on the series. Most but not all selections are available elsewhere with hunting, but would be quite difficult to assemble together. A few selections are Native American songs well remembered from the episodes. There are a few original music scores from the producer's musicians that wrote the theme song. I very much like their jazzy, Yiddish-feeling scores, and wish that the CD had contained several more of them, as they added that unique, creative sound to the series. This CD includes as the first track a several-minute-long full version of the theme song that ... Read More:

There's very little I can add to the previous reviews except to say that this was the reason I bought a CD player years ago. More out of curiosity than anything else, I happened to pick up a copy of "Louis Prima: the Capitol Collectors Series" in its audiocassette format back in the early Nineties. Let me assure you, this is Prima at his best, during the wild and swinging Fifties, when his was "THE" act to see in Las Vegas. From the opening number, "Just A Gigolo," I was hooked. There isn't a single track (with the possible exception of "Beep! Beep!") that I didn't enjoy. The man was a master at his craft. No one's a bigger fan of Dean Martin's than me, but when you compare Dino's versions of "Oh, Marie" and "Buona Sera" to Louis', Prima blows him ... Read More:

There are so many great songs on here. I was introduced to two great Sam Butera songs, enjoyed more of Lou Rawls silky smooth voice, and gained more appreciation for Dean Martin and Bobby Darin's great voices. Great CD - all the songs are great!

the reason i HAD to buy this CD, was to get mine back! i brought this to a house-warming dinner party & everyone LOVED it - including the host.
Now they can enjoy Louie Prima & Keely Smith anytime they want - and I got my CD back. :)
you'll find yourself singin' & swingin' along too.

Are you kidding, who do you think Eric Clapton learned his best licks from?? Yep, T-Bone. This CD has no bad, average, or even great recordings on it. They are all spectacular!! T-Bone is the master of the "modern" blues style, yeah, like Eric Clapton, only earlier and beautiful music in his own right.

Only diehard audiophiles will find fault with this release. Believe me, the sound is just fine. All but one track were 24-bit digitally remastered at Capitol between 2003 and 2005, while track 27 is a 1991 Elektra Entertainment Group production.
Tracks 2 to 6 are by The King Cole Trio consisting of Nat, guitarist Oscar Moore and bassist Johnny Miller. Track 10 is by The King Cole Trio consisting of Nat, guitarist Irving Ashby and bassist Joe Comfort. Track 20 is by The King Cole Trio consisting of Nat, guitarist John Collins and bassist Charlie Harris.
All this is contained in the 28 page insert containing six pages of notes by daughter Natalie, numerous candid photos of Nat and his family, in performance, touring, etc., including one in studio ... Read More:
