The MUSIC on these New Order reissues get a 5/5, easily. However, there were far too many egregious mistakes made in the creation of the discs themselves to give them a pass. Only the first discs were re-mastered though they still have some problems, it is the bonus discs that are an absolute mess.

Warner Music/Rhino know about these problems, but there is yet no word on any forthcoming fixes. So I'd hold off until these issues are addressed.

Noted below are the specific problems with the PC&L reissue:

The Definitive Collection

This really is the ABBA definitive collection, al the songs I remember from them are here, the quality of the sound is wonderful. I know that after releasing Mamma Mia some other collections are selling, but this one contains more than 30 songs, and it's great.

Low-Life (2 CD Collector's Edition)

This is one of my favorite albums of all time but I have to jump in on the remastering issues. I just bought this yesterday and I have the same flaw on the song Sunrise that the previous reviewer reported. I'll take his word for the exact time of the flaw but there is definitely a remarkable volume drop in the right channel in the middle of the song. The right channel corrects itself pretty quickly but when I heard it I thought something was wrong with my CD player. This is a very noticeable flaw. I even pulled out my Retro box set to listen to the song there to see if the flaw was part of the original master. The Retro version is fine as is my old copy of the CD. Duran-Duran is the greatest!!! This cd is magnificent!! I thought I'd heard most of their songs, yet I found a few on here I had no idea of.

I really love "Serious"...such a relaxing song. Also "Skin Trade" rawks. And of course the old classics "Rio", "View to a Kill" and "Save a Prayer" are fitting for any occasion.

Definately an needed add to any D-D fan or avid 80's music fan such as myself!

I used to fall asleep to this album throughout my middle-school years of heartache and pop-worship. This is my favorite compilation CD. It has the 4 songs that, to me, sport a tattoo of the 80s on their foreheads: "Video Killed the Radio Star", "Everybody (Wang Chung) Tonight", "Centerfold" and the epic "Jessie's Girl".

As a fan of Depeche Mode since 1986, a new release is always cause for celebrtion. It used to mean a couple 12 inch singles would also be released with extended versions and maybe a b-side. then came cassette maxi singles and remixes. Followed by cd singles and imports, videos and downloads. The albums are all wonderful, and the singles have all spawned their own mini-albums...remember how many versions of Personal Jesus we got?!!? My point is that Depeche Mode does release GREAT singles. Awesome songs, and this compilation s great for someone wanting an overview. But as good as the singles are, there are many 'album tracks' that are the true gems...This is just the surface.
