The MUSIC on these New Order reissues get a 5/5, easily. However, there were far too many egregious mistakes made in the creation of the discs themselves to give them a pass. Only the first discs were re-mastered though they still have some problems, it is the bonus discs that are an absolute mess.
Warner Music/Rhino know about these problems, but there is yet no word on any forthcoming fixes. So I'd hold off until these issues are addressed.
Noted below are the specific problems with the PC&L reissue:
1, Age of consent
2, We all stand
3, The village
4, 586 ("abrupt ending", "drops the last 4 bass notes")
5, Your silent face
6, Ultraviolence
7, Ecstasy
8, Leave me alone ... Read More:

This really is the ABBA definitive collection, al the songs I remember from them are here, the quality of the sound is wonderful. I know that after releasing Mamma Mia some other collections are selling, but this one contains more than 30 songs, and it's great.

This is an excellent album by David Cassidy and a bunch of wonderful studio musicians/singers known collectively as "The Partridge Family". Released late in 1973, the sound of the Family had changed and matured since the beginning in 1970. This is one of my personal favorites of the Partridge Family-a big improvement from the previous efforts, Notebook and Crossword Puzzle. It was the final album for them and contained a lot of fun pop songs. Not so much bubblegum as on previous albums. The album starts with 3 almost funky songs, which is a little unusual. Roller coaster & Lookin for a good time are the best efforts. There are some nice mature ballads as well. I prefer the uptempo songs. Tony Romeo, who wrote the #1 song "I think I love you" writes "I'll ... Read More:

This is one of my favorite albums of all time but I have to jump in on the remastering issues. I just bought this yesterday and I have the same flaw on the song Sunrise that the previous reviewer reported. I'll take his word for the exact time of the flaw but there is definitely a remarkable volume drop in the right channel in the middle of the song. The right channel corrects itself pretty quickly but when I heard it I thought something was wrong with my CD player. This is a very noticeable flaw. I even pulled out my Retro box set to listen to the song there to see if the flaw was part of the original master. The Retro version is fine as is my old copy of the CD. Is there anyone out there who bought a copy of this reissue that doesn't have that volume drop on ... Read More:

I just wish the songs weren't "remixed", Karen's voice sounds like it's in the background, with an almost echo effect. I like the original versions as released on the LPs. Or listen to a cd, before the songs were remastered/remixed by Richard. But it's a good compilation. I just feel the overproduction of some of the remixes takes away from the original, warmer, sound. Does anyone agree with me ?

America was never considered a cool band, but they could turn out memorable tunes with rich harmonies. They have a folk vibe to many of their songs. I like most of their songs but I think 'Muskat Love' is too sappy. Even if you don't know the group by name you have probably heard their songs. The song 'You can do Magic' is played everywhere and obviously has commercial uses. They remain underrated.
