Credence Clearwater Revival and John Fogerty are classic rock at its best, a mixture of blues, rock and catchy songwriting created memorable songs that still have people singing these today.
This is a good collection of many of their hits and well known songs and I put it on the CD player for my children and they now are singing along.

Mellencamp is my favorite solo artist. I like and own everything he has ever done, so I am probably not the most objective reviewer of his work.
Mellencamp has really come into a new realm of creativity over the past few years. This record demonstrates an amazing amount of depth, range, and musical mastery.
I liked his last album (Freedom's Road) better, but comparing the two would not be entirely fair. They are very different records all around. Freedom's Road was more "Mellencampy." This one was meant to be more solemn and flat out sad.
My favorite tracks are Longest Days and A Ride Back Home. Longest Days may well be one of the top ten best songs he has ever written. My least favorite tracks ... Read More:

Dirt Farmer is the best album I have heard in years! If you like country, folk, gospel and the blues, you will love this album. From the first time I heard it, I liked it, but now I adore it. From beginning to end, this is a masterpiece. In my mind, the songs that stand out are as follows: False Hearted Lover Blues, The Mountain, Little Birds, Calvary, Got Me A Woman, Single Girl, Married Girl and Wide River To Cross. This album has great songs, superb musicianship and gorgeous harmonies. What else could you ask for? This country rocks!

Ry Cooder has been around a long time and has released many albums/c d's,and contributed as a session man and producer. His music is varied and Ry has explored many different styles and tastes. He was even courted by the Rolling Stones as a replacement in the early seventies....So with that written this anthology/overview is essential listening and cuts to the best of his work.In my opinion many of his releases were a mixed bag and he often got lost in what direction he was aiming for to capture the listener.Case in point were his last two releases which I considered poor...."BUT" this anthology is very good and Ry's signature slide guitar rifts and catchy hooks are worth every penny!

Clocking in at just under 30 minutes, PEACE QUEER is a powerful little record. It starts off with a Bo Diddley acoustic beat, dissecting the philosophy of Will Rogers. That acoustic rhythm flows on into a haunting rendition of CCR's "Fortunate Son" (the only non-original here), then the wry recitation "Is This Thing Working?" (re-worked later at "Is This Thing On?").
The first four tracks of PEACE QUEER dig under your skin, playing around in the dark, searching for your nerves. When the gritty electric guitar kicks in at the opening of "Stuck On the Corner," the nerve is struck. It's like a gentle massage turning into a full-on assault on your senses. Snider eases back into a more laid-back beat for the remainder of the record, but the ... Read More:

The first thing I did when I received this in the mail was pop in the DVD ~ I have been a fan of Setzers since the Stray Cat days and have seen him play a few times. He is an amazing guitarist and knows how to put on one heck of a show, AND it's all captured on this dvd. The musicians behind him follow suit and are equally as gifted. These guys (and dolls) look like they are having the time of their life and it's contagious. The DVD features swingin' holiday favorites, but Setzer also ventures into some of his rockabilly tunes with Bernie Dresel on drums and John Hatton on bass, making for an outstanding trio performance.
This is a must have for your holiday library of music. The fact that you get this great DVD with the musical CD ... Read More:

Hayes Carll. Not a bag song on his CDs. Some of his older ones are harder to get but I highly recommend tracking down Flowers and Liquor and Little Rock.
