Is it just me or is everyone else fed up with the GreeNazis and their jihad to force "green" orders on all of us from the constant propaganda to the regulations of our damn toilets!
Now I can't even enjoy the discs from one of my all time favorite bands because Algore's GreeNazis have taken over the packaging?!?! It's time for a backlash, folks. Boycott anything that pushes a "green" Eco-Scam agenda.
To you disciples of the Green Religion: HANDS OFF MY ROCK AND ROLL!

The compilation is very reminiscent of the variety of music we heard on the show--kinda quirky and upbeat. The theme song and a few other distinct tracks from the show remind me how much I enjoyed watching the series. It's a great soundtrack!

Having not lived in the '60s and '70s when these recordings were first made, this collection is outstanding for me, as it not only combines albums from two different record labels onto one CD, but it also features every song I know by Badfinger.
I saw Joey Molland at Hippiefest in 2007, and his 15-minute set featured four songs: "Baby Blue," "Come and Get It," "Day After Day" and "No Matter What." I know a little about Badfinger, but not so much as what songs come off of what albums, or what songs could've/should've been put on this disc but weren't.
What I can say is, I love a lot of the songs on this CD. In addition to those previously mentioned, I also really enjoyed the Iveys song "Maybe Tomorrow," and the sweet ... Read More:
Nick Lowe's JESUS OF COOL is one of the great albums of the 70's and one of the best examples of the "pub rock" sound that developed in England as A cousin to punk. Pub rock was more of a throwback to superior musicianship and lyrics that focused more on being clever than confrontational and Lowe captures the joys of the sound perfectly on this recording. Kicking off with the fierce drone of "Music for Money" every song here is a keeper, from "I Love The Sound of Breaking Glass," with it's pretty piano flourishes camouflaging the anarchy in the lyrics to the comic horror of "Marie Provost" and the silent star's final scene.(which involved "her hungry little dachshunds") I usually don't comment on the extras as they are often sheer padding, ... If you not a real big BNL fan than this is the album to pick up. If you are a big BNL fan than you already have all these songs. These were their most famous tunes. But if you own any of their stuff (if not you should really get some) you know how great and witty all the songs are.

This album goes well with the progression of The Dandy Warhols.
If you aren't into Disco and the groovy beats that reside in that genre (though not the lyricism style) you should steer clear of at least half this album.
But if you were a fan of Odditorium and Welcome to the Monkey House, and you can handle a disco-ish beat, you will enjoy this album.
I recommend it to any Dandy Warhol fans. Also David Bowie and Lou Reed fans should definitely see what those two musician's legacy has spawned in indie rock.

This is a superb, but not perfect CD. In the canon of Matthew Sweet - this CD perhaps ranks alongside the solid "Kimi Ga Suki", with the distinction that it rocks a bit more. Kimi is more consistent w/ no duds; Sunshine has a couple of duds (the first two songs oddly enough), but sticks in the mind a bit more. Matthew produced his trilogy of masterpieces (Girlfriend, Altered Beast, 100% fun) after getting divorced, jamming and touring w/ the influential Lloyd Cole (checkout his perfect comeback "The Negatives"), and going "electric" with legends (the late) Robert Quine and Richard Lloyd. I was then shocked by "Blue Sky on Mars" and "In Reverse"; decent albums but not up to the Sweet standard and not really memorable enough tune-wise. Some might say ... Read More:

The name of the band ended up being one of the worst ironies in music history, because when #1 Record came out the band were anything but a "Big Star". It's unbelievable that #1 Record wasn't more popular, but then again this was around the same time that Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin were ruling the rock airwaves along with James Taylor. The band in between couldn't fit in for either side, but if they had come out just five years earlier during the heyday of the British Invasion they would've been giants.
There are many highlights on the album, with Chris Bell and Alex Chilton being an amazing songwriting team.
1. "Feel" is the perfect album opener, epic in scope.
2. "Ballad of El Goodo" is a ballad, one of the first ... Read More:

I remember hearing alot of these songs on the radio while growing up, but never could remember any names that belonged to it. Then recently I heard my favorite song on a classic rock station. Once the DJ announced it as "Bang The Drum All Day", I was all over it. I picked up this CD and haven't put it down ever since. I recommend the working man buy this CD and play it as soon as he breaks out of work on every Friday. It's worth it.

Sometime in the 1990s, Rhino released a set of 15 CDs titled Just Can't Get Enough: New Wave Hits Of The 80s. Most of those have fallen out of print, and I suppose this box set was supposed to act as a replacement. Whatever the scenario may be, I'd encourage anyone to try to hunt down the 15 Just Can't Get Enough CDs, because everything that Rhino did right in that series is amplified by all that is done wrong here.
The 1980s produced a lot of great New Wave singles, some of which are on this box set and many of which can be found on the Just Can't Get Enough series. But instead of going the extra mile to license those off-beat tracks for this box set, the producers filled the discs with a whole bunch of crap.
