love the Broadway CD. love Double Standards. But i dont get this CD...pretty bad sound, bad editing, and the main problem (for me) is Lea herself. i like Lea. have every CD. go see her when she's performing in clubs and on stage (adam & steve etc)...but this Smoke session just doesnt cut it. Ain't that good. we've (i & my wife) played it a few times now, and it dont get better. i bought the album without giving it a listen. hey i thought, it's a Lea. IT AIN'T!!!

Everyone's bound to have quibbles with a collection such as this one. I would much prefer to have Mabel Mercer's version of "Ballad of the Sad Young Men," for instance (although Rod McKuen's is lovely), and I regret the absence of certain gay "standards" such as Mott the Hoople's "All the Young Dudes" and Dusty Springfield's "Quiet, Please, There's a Lady on Stage." But it's all fun, not mention educational, and I'm grateful to Marshall Blonstein and Richard Oliver for a magnificent effort, which is destined to take its place next to classics of the literature such as William J. Mann's "Behind the Screen" and "The Gay and Lesbian Literary Heritage"--not to mention the collected works of Barbara Streisand! To underscore their sense of history, ... Read More:

There are many things that I adore about the Butchie's album "Make Yr Life", yet many thing I dislike. For the positives, the lyrics are AWESOME mostly because they're so les, but also because of the catchiness, the vocals are often on the brink of an orgasm which is very hott, the pace of the songs is fun and very energetic. I've listened to "Send Me You" Many, many times, dispite its almost commercial sound. This album would be perfect except for the aforementioned commercial sound that pops up sometimes and also the times when the vocals crack or get pitchy, which is very irritating. The best songs are definitely "Send Me You", "She's So Lovely", and "Everything & Everywhere"

I heard Suzanne once on HBO comedy hour recently and LOVED her!! I've never heard a les woman who just kept it real regardless of what topic. After seeing & hearing her I plan to purchase every cd/book she's ever done. She's quite talented and needs way more exposure.

I wish Delaria would put out more albums like this one. Her voice and interpretation of the songs on the album are really great and withstand lots of repeat plays. Highly recommended. Many of the cuts are worth 5 stars, but I didn't really like all of her song choices, so that's why I rated the album 4 stars.

i went to see the reunited team dresch play this week and even after more than ten years, the songs are still relevant, blisteringly spot-on, and brought tears to my eyes. the ladies in team dresch have an amazing and unique thing going with this band and their reunion couldn't have come at a better time.
their unique voices, intricate guitar strains, and political and emotional lyrics underpin the overarching themes of self acceptance, love, queer positivity, inner strength, passionate politics, and the search for role models for gay and questioning youth.
woven together tightly and lovingly, this record is your blanket of protection; warm, comforting and assuring when you can find no other solace in ... Read More:

This is so funny. I feel like she's talking about me and my husband. I have seen her live and was wondering how her humor would translate without her amazing expressions and body language, but I don't think I could have laughed any louder. Can't wait for the next one!!!

I've had the honor of singing some of the arrangements on this recording and they are astonishing.
It should be reissued and made available as it is a rousing collection of new looks at old carols.

suzanne westenhoefer is one of my favorite comedians ever. she really knows how to tell a joke. i cant even drive a car while im listening to her for fear of crashing. not just for lesbians...this is for everyone...but lesbians will definitely find this much much funnier. support the lesbian comedians and buy this album, her others, and all the lesbian comedian albums. lets bring it all out more to the public.
