Play by Brad Paisley is a departure from his other CDs. Although his other CDs have featured his strong guitar playing and sounds instrumentals, this entire CD is a guitar playing showcase. The very few songs that feature vocals are still secondary to the outstanding guitar playing, and that is just the point with this CD. Brad Paisley is an incredibly talented artist, and he gets to show off these talents with a few of his colleagues.

This is an outstanding effort from Brad Paisley. The only downside to the CD is that there are not 10+ great songs featuring vocals. That's okay though, because the other Brad Paisley CDs beg repeated listenings. If you are a new fan, don't miss out on these other great CDs:

After listening to the first song, old memories return. You'll be impressed with all the Jerry Reed songs you actually know and love, but forgot about. Jerry Read's lyrics are funny and entertaining, almost like listening to an old radio show. The range is wide; from comedy to love.

Having seen some videos of these two in performance, I expected a lot more from the CD. There was no reason to include vocals on this effort, or even backing instrumentation. Atkins was a pioneering genius of the guitar and Knopfler is his equal in talent and technique. The two of them together alone on a stage made magic, and that's all this CD needed. Yes, there is great guitar playing to be found here, but not nearly as much as there might have been had the production not been overloaded with extraneous material. One great guitarist can entertain a crowd all night -- two great guitarists as in sync with one another as Knopfler and Atkins were, could (and did) entertain the crowd that much more. I would have to rate this CD as the best of Chet's music. I also
purchased the book with the music and tab's. The songs that he
selected were songs that inspire me. I would highly recommend the
CD and book both. Unless you're playing you wouldn't need the book
though.
