I discovered Girl Talk after stumbled across his remix of a Bonde Du Role song. There's 250 samples from 167 artists on the album. This is what happens when an engineering student discovers drugs. Play this album in your car and watch your friends ask, "hey, what is that?" Play it in a club and get everyone dancing. Sense of humor mandatory. Gregg Gillis is the mash up shiz.

Last Night feels more like a controlled effort to convince fans he has returned to his dancefloor roots rather then a genuine album that makes you want to move like his old classics Play and Everything is Wrong provided, instead at best mimicking the old prototype with tracks such as "Everyday It's 1989" interspersed with half-cooked attempts to update a stale palate.

I love this CD. This was the first Zero 7 CD that I ever had and it is still my favorite although When It Falls has it's moments. I first heard these guys on a compilation CD that I picked up at the library and I immediately knew that I would be buying their stuff. In the world of chill they are standouts for sure. They put the ahhh...in acid. Great vocals and mood creating progressions. I always get this one out when it is time to relax around the pool and really get into some serious lay-back and get-high. This music has a warm, sexy rich texture to it that evokes the feeling you get when the sun is beating down on your skin and you feel like your melting. Just bought this CD a couple of weeks ago. I enjoyed listening to it because there's something different about these music compared to contemporary ones. Although obviously they are very modern, you can say Moby's technique of utilizing notes harks back to medieval times. The prolongation of some notes (which are hypnotizing) resembles those of the chants used in religious services. The transitions can be compared to majority of the classical/baroque music. And who could miss the vocals that resemble arias?

Not only is the movie one of my faves but so is the soundtrack. I have an addiction to buying soundtracks and this one tops the list of my many. Its so good I'm using a few of the tracks for my wedding.

I first noticed Jamie Lidell on the Craig Ferguson Show. He totally rocked that performance! Immediately after the show, I went to Amazon and purchased this album. It reminds me of the great funk and soul artists of the 70's - Earth, Wind and Fire, Smokey Robinson, Temptations, etc... The album runs the spectrum from "mellow funk" to "take no prisoner rock". I have recommended the album to everyone that I know and they are all fans! If you like retro funk music, you will love this album too!

This album is my second favorite by Delerium, topped only by Poem. It is hugely listenable. After a stressful day at work, this CD has become a favorite to relax to. I'm not particularly fanatical about Delerium. I don't have especially strong ties to any one Delerium style, or album(s), but this is one of my favorites.

A Strangely Isolated Place

Schnauss fuses combinations of ethereal synth pads and overboosted electric guitar chords to deliver angelic yet funky and powerful compositions. Most of his tracks are what I like to call "Building" tracks. He'll begin with a minimalist beat, or no beat at all, and build his pieces to emotionally charged crescendos of bliss. Vocals, both male and female are limited, for the most part to roles of "effect" and "accent" to keep the listener grounded and connected to his work. I detect little evolution in the Ulrich Schnauss' style from one CD to the next.
