I have listened to this album about 20 times so far, and while at first I didn't care for it, upon listening to it a couple more times, it started to grow on me.
The band is growing, they are trying new things, and this is all good news. The worst thing a band can do is be stagnant and have all of their albums sound the same. A couple of tracks on the album are reminiscent of what we know and love of Keane, however the album as a whole is a different sound.
I think overall, if you enjoy the band, you will like the album and the songs, they are written well, the lyrics are powerful (as always), and the orchestration is often clever.

I was given this album as a gift three years ago and while it was new to me I immediately noticed that the lead vocalist had no idea of how to break away from singing very "clunkily" in syllables...to every song!!!
I haven't read all the reviews to this album (would take days) but wonder if he annoys anyone else as much as he annoys me?

I haven't heard this album in years but this was the single biggest let down/insult/disappointment I have ever heard.I was a huge fan of the first two albums and remember when no one had heard of them and I mentioned them (along with Travis) to people who said they liked Radiohead. The new album(Viva La Vida) is passable but this album apart from Fix You is the stalest most derivative uninspired album I've ever heard. If you want to hear the original version of this album check out Kid A. Not only does Coldplay's X&Y rip this album off shamelessly, but they do a horrible job of it.
Like I said I loved the first two albums and I defended Coldplay when people said they were completely unoriginal. I've always liked Radiohead better but before this album I still ... Read More:

I am a big, bif fan of Urban Hymns and was so excited to see a new release from the Verve. Just brilliant work again from these guys. If you are a Verve fan you must get this! Just love the mix of guitars, strings and piano on the songs. It is different from other Verve albums but I recommend it highly.

I remember back in college, in 1999, I was at the Wherehouse and picked up The Man Who (dang, it doesn't seem thaaat long ago). Anyhow, I still absolutely love "The Man Who"; it's an absolute classic and it still sounds great today. It's aged extremely well. I have enjoyed everything since then - but not so much the Good Feeling debut though.
But after this newest release, Ode to J. Smith, I'm left feeling kind of disappointed. It's not that I dislike it, but rather, I don't love it. Usually I love everything they've put out since The Man Who. And yes, some people might complain and say they had gotten kind of mopey, sappy, over-dramatic at times, but hey, that's what I liked about them!
Ode to J. Smith is definitely way more rock, more electric, more ... Read More:

Easiest review I'll ever do in my life. Simply put: BUY THIS!
Why? Radiohead are an amazing group of talented song writers and musicians as a whole. Collectively "Ok Computer" pulls traces of their past soft alternative works together, and accompanies them with new progressive territory.
The tracks are masterful, deep, and distinctly unique. As a whole the production quality is outstanding, the song variety is awesome (remains on the lighter side of the spectrum). This is all before their large leap into a minimalist electronic style as featured on their next album
"Kid A".
While many cite the second half as the downfall of the album, one could highly disagree. Example "Electioneering" has such a clinking jingle it's hard to resist. Radiohead have established ... Read More:

Hail to the Thief is in my opinion one of the best Radiohead cd's period. Most when thinking about Radiohead immediately think about Kid A, completely disregarding Hail. But! That's a mistake. Hail.. has the brilliant songs: Myxomatosis, Backdrifts and The Gloaming. If you don't already own it, get it now. And if you can, see them live. It will give you an even greater appreciation

Elbow is consistently sensitive, but also rocking. Caution, though: don't listen to track 1 on this CD while you're driving, or if you're jumpy.
