You can never go wrong with Bing. Better even than Sinatra in my opinion.

This is one of my favorite Christmas albums. Bing's voice is so rich and warm, it can't help but put you in the mood for the holidays.

I purchased the songs of WWII CD for my 84 yr old Dad's birthday . . . he and my mother are both enjoying it so much that it's obvious it was a great choice. They told me that they even loaned it to their neighbor to listen to, but made sure he knew they expected it back the next day. Now instead of having the radio or TV on (both of which have little to offer for their age group), they are listening to "THEIR" music in the afternoons.

I honestly bought this CD for one song and that was "all I want for x-mas is a hippotamus". I love that song and Alvin and the Chipmunks. For me the rest of the songs sucked and they arent worth anything to me. But I couldnt find the song I wanted as a single at the time. Just make sure that you read the songs included list before you buy.

I frankfully became a Francophile when I was introduced to the voice and artistry of Edith Piaf in my high school French class which made me love the language even more!!. The beauty of her voice and of her protege/lover Yves Montand converted me to other chanteurs of song like Gilbert Becaud. If you've recently seen the award winning movie on her life, "La Vie en Rose" with an Oscar winning performance from Marion Cotillard then this collection of her most famous songs is just the ticket. If you want to hear some of these songs sung in English by her, there is "An Hymn to Love". My mother used to play this in the tape version when I was young. We played it EVERY Christmas thereafter until we wore the tape out. Now, at 24, I have my own house, and I miss the old songs. They really made Christmas special. So, I downloaded the mp3 version for quicker access. Nostalgia is much in the eye of the beholder. For those of us who grew up to this music, this brings back wonderful memories. I would assume that my Great grandmother and/or grandmother got my mother hooked, as she (my mother) is only in her mid 40's. I would definitely recommend this even if you've never heard it before.

One of the best Christmas CDs I've bought in years. Almost sounds like Bing Crosby with a funk.
