This double CD by R. Kelly is probably the most complete CD in his discography. He successfully combines Hip Hop, Contemporary R&B, Soul, Gospel, and Adult Contemporary, but never mangaes to sound like he copying someone. His sound is all his own. From "When A Woman's Fed Up," to "Home Alone," to "I'm Your Angel," to the fantastic, soul stirring "If I Could Turn Back the Hands of Time," the Pied Piper of R&B just keeps cementing his Legend!

I'm a bit slow at discovering the Black Keys but I LOVE THEM since I did discover them! This is the best band to come along since Nirvana. Magic Potion was my first Keys purchase and I didn't think I could possibly love anything better by this band but man, I WAS WRONG! This CD ROCKS! Not a bad song on here!

I remember this album when I was in the 8th grade. This record is soulful and modern. With this album, she has defiened the highest creative potential of music. She fuses the jazz, R&B and hip-hop influences of a lifetime, not only with her voice, but with many talents. Deeply spiritual and rhythmically banging, uplifting yet grounded, sensitive and sensual, it is one more example of the multi-faceted expression we fans value in her. This album reflects a "re-invention" in the calculatedly self-consicous, marketing-driven sense that Hollywood might use the term but quite simply, growth, evolution, and learning. This album has been certified Platinum. Remember, this was 2000.

Essence

I saw Lucinda at Bumerbershoot in Seattle this summer. It was at Memorial Stadium, which is a bad place for live music (accoustically), but the song Essence just blew me away. Quickly it has become my summer of '08 theme song. I'm an old fart, and I like every kind of music, but she seems to have the ability to hit that bluesy nerve right smack dang hard and sexy too. Makes me want to do a little dance with a shady woman in a smoky honky tonk. Gonna have to review her entire song book on Itunes and make my own LW's greatest hits CD ... definitely going to include that Drunken Angel song too.

Love Anthony Hamilton but I won't buy his cd again because I can't put it on my ipod. His music is great but I have to actually put his CD in the machine to listen to him...too much work for 2008.

Being of an age where people like aretha, ray charles and stevie wonders are legends in not only music but in the history of their eras, I am saddend when they attempt to hold onto that for too long or get talked into making "comeback tours" (ie van halen). My first encounter of this cd was at a bookstore shamelessly promoting it, and all I can say was OH MY. One reviewer called it a Prince impersonation but that doesnt do it justice. We are talking about an hours worth of verbal assault. Something that wouldnt have made 3 seconds in front of the American Idol Judges before being booted off. It was as if the beltone hearing aid was mistuned. I dont believe there was a single note that was on key and most of the songs were so bad you could not even discern the ... Read More:

More great live music from the real king of texas blues. This material is killer. BUT, when they say bootleg, they mean it... The mix sounds if taken from a sound board and maybe ran thru a sound enhancer. Not sure if it is just my cd, but the treble is way up -sounding like it is maxed out to hide the hiss. You have to turn it down -which on my car deck is a pain. But then again, you have to take the bad with the good when it comes to a legend like Johnny Winter. If you are like me, you will buy everything he puts out -and relish it. Which is exactly what I do - and you should too. They do not make them like Johnny Winter anymore.
