So they finally went back and remastered the muddy audio on this classic album! The new sound is fantastic -- clear as a bell. Sadly, while the audio was being cleaned up, no one bothered to clean up the very, very sloppy edits (especially in the second half), such as when the second intro of B.B. (why two separate intros, anyway?) gets abruptly chopped off and goes right into a song that from the background crowd noise came at some other point in the show. If you're going to do a live album, the tracks should at least create the illusion of a live show, especially in this digital era when fade-outs and fade-ins are no longer used, and audience applause can be smoothly edited in to create seamless transitions!

Van listened to the old bluesmen in his youth back in Ireland. You can hear those influences when Van sings. This CD is excellent because it has all of the songs that van is famous for.

This is Ronnie Earl's first DVD. He is a fantastic example of post-modern Blues Guitar. His playing is understated and soulful but his phrasing is really exemplary. I have been playing this DVD for about two weeks to write a review of it and I must say that is really grows on you. Ronnie decided that, in the early 1990s, he would stop playing with a singer and play the blues in the true Earl Hooker style-where he got his name "Earl" from. As a guitar player I feel that this was a bold move. The instrumental selection on this DVD is mostly slow blues with some pop, jazz and gospel overtones, but if you are a player it is fantastic. You can clearly see Ronnie's technique and easily even see what key it's in (D,G,B A mostly)

I really liked this album. Yes, it goes into a more pop direction...but it still has the RRFB magic in it and god forbid a struggling band should try to get a little success...jesus. I also don't get the lyric bashing from some of these reviewers. I'm not sure what fantasy world they live in, but in reality...not every good song has amazing lyrics. Some songs are just fun to listen to because of the beat or the guitar riff it has. If you guys want music with just solely good lyrics then I would suggest bob dylan or neil young, even though I seriously can't stand neil young at all.

Keb is a talented musician with a beautiful voice and solid poetic compositional skills. Very much appreciated that he participated in the Vote For Change tour in '04, and thought that he, Bonnie and Jackson Browne were one hell of a trio.

Although I am a Boz Scaggs fan - I was surprised to find this set of CDs to be a disappointment. As many artists will, Boz takes a new direction with most of the songs in these performances. His interpretations are well outside the bounds what what I had expected. Unfortunately I don't think these new directions benefitted the recordings in most cases. Its a shame because I really do (otherwise) like his style.

When one thinks of the classic blues tune "Dust My Broom" one tends to think of the legendary Robert Johnson who along with his "Sweet Home, Chicago" created two of the signature blues songs of the pre-World War II period. However, my first hearing of "Dust My Broom" was on a hot LP (the old days, right?) version covered and made his own by the artist under review, Elmore James. I have heard many cover versions since then, including from the likes of George Thorogood and Chris Smithers, and they all reflect on the influence of Elmore's amazing slide guitar virtuosity to provide the "heat" necessary to do the song justice. Moreover, this is only the tip of the iceberg as such blues masters and aficionados as B.B. King and The Rolling Stones have covered other ... Read More:

An understated disc from the veteran bluesrocker. Much more introspective, although his earlier disc True Stories and his work with the Cate brothers hinted at this direction. Country,Rock, Surf Rock, with not a whole lotta blues. One of if not THE most dynamic live performers of his generation has the right at this stage of his long career to make music that pleases himself. Vocals have never been his strong suit and this is a singer songwriter disc. Just a Feeling percolates and the surf instrumental Landlocked sounds like old school Jimmy. Good solid work without the usual fiery guitar prowess.
