When you listen to Joe Cocker, when you purchase a CD by Joe Cocker, you know what you are getting! This music will not disappoint as long as you don't expect an out of body experience. Enjoy, lean back and remember that this talent is now in the 21st century and as strong as ever.

In the early 80's I got a bootleg cassette of Phoebe Snow's best songs, and a couple of decades later got the CD- sorry it took so long to make it right, Phoebe! You are one of a very select group of singers whom I consider the absolute best America has offered up. I would compare your singing most closely to that of Sara Vaughan. Although your music and voice are quite different, you remind me of her so much because of the originality and perfection of your choice of phrasings. That and your range- that magnifient and unbelieveable range that, like Ms Vaughan, somehow effortlessly spans how many octaves? Another reviewer quite rightly points out the modernity of this collection as well. It could have been made this year, or last year or next ... Read More:

I am crazy for this movie and every time I watched it I would sing along with all the songs. Finally I got the soundtrack and it's wonderful! I'm so glad I did.

Mr. Clapton does a wonderful job on Mr. Johnson's songs. A top notch band as always, this time with Billy Preston on organ. Just a really great album.
20+ years after their debut on CD, FINALLY, there are full remasters of Moondance, Street Choir and Astral Weeks.
The bad news?
They're not available domestically from Warner Music Group USA: All three were released in June 2008 by Warner in Japan only, and Amazon is FINALLY getting around to stocking them.
The catalog numbers for the three Japan Warner remasters are WPCR-75419, -20 and -21, which streeted in Japan on 6/25/08. Be sure that you use the links I have provided above, as Warner Japan has previously released non-remastered versions of all three titles, and you don't want to make an expensive mistake.
These classic albums, which we have all waited so ... Read More:

On "You And Me" Joe moves back into blues territory albeit a mix of electric blues and classic rock that had it's hey day back in the late 60's and early 70's. Comparisons to bands of the era like Cream, Ten Years After, or Robin Trower would be appropriate. In fact Bonamassa does an absolutely scorching cover of Led Zeppelin's "Tea For One" that in many ways rivals the original. "You And Me" is a mix of blues covers and originals. Joe pulls in some heavyweight accompaniment on this one with Jason Bonham on drums and Carmine Rojas (Rod Stewart, Nektar) on bass. This is another stellar album from Bonamassa which should please anyone who is a fan of fiery blues guitar and vocals.

This "album" is highly recommended! This is another must-have for any fan of Johnny Winter or blazing guitar playing. The band's music overcomes any shortcomings in the sound quality. (Volume 1 is a better recording, but volume 2 may have more innovative playing.) After all, these are live recordings, from an era before sophisticated remote music equipment. Don't let the warts spoil a fantastic musical experience. Sit back (if you can) and enjoy! The licks aren't as polished (occasionally) as his studio albums, but the improvisation is fantastic. This group puts out an amazing sound for three members.

Howlin' Wolf is one of the seminal blues artists. His guitar and that scritchy voice are definitive of the blues standard. This CD is actually a two-fer, a Chess compilation of his two first albums: Howlin' Wolf and Moanin' at Midnight.
The packaging isn't much to be proud of. You get liner notes, but not much else and the paper's pretty disreputable.
Favorites:
"Back Door Man" you'll hear this one covered all over the place, but nobody does it like the Wolf.
"Evil" well, doesn't the name say it?
"Going Down Slow" this is an interesting perspective on the music business and money.

I absolutely LOVE The Roads My Middle Name (11th song on this album) Why is it that we have never heard of this song or why it didn't go to #1??? As a blues singer myself, I am definitely working on this one and I know it will be well accepted and liked. I am so hooked.
