I have loved Maria's music for decades, I guess that lets you know how old I am. I have a broad range of favorite artists from Assembly of Dust to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Maria's albums I reach for most of the time. This one did not let me down. When Maria sings the incredible soul touching ballads on this album you can feel it from your heart to your pinky toes! Her voice has been fine tuned with time and experiences and you can hear it in every selection. You want to sway,boogie,shout or cry when listening to this creative venue of perfection. Please, please Maria, don't ever stop.

First, let me say I have nothing against white blues guitar slingers. Love Bloomfield and Jonny Winter.

Second, as a "classic rock dude" Clapton can't be beat. Layla, and all that other stuff- its seminal classic rock. The guy almost defines the genre.

However, as a blues player, and especially as a blues singer, he is way overrated. People float him five stars because of the above classic rock god status. "Clapton? I love Clapton. Five stars."

The licks are ok, the solos are ok when he keeps them short. When he tries to go gonzo on a slow blues, he just sounds silly. Everything after Bluesbreakers was downhill for the guy blues-wise.

Don't listen to the negative reviews of this cd it is one of the best and liveliest albums i've ever heard save for one or two songs. People just don't enjoy it because they're probably just the original fans of his early more simple music. The quality of Diamonds sounds like a pop album and it's great. The album just Hits its so diverse and has everything from Reggae to Jam Rock to Funk,Heavy Blues, an Italian love song with an accordion, to Spiritual songs inspired by World Music. I love all his stuff especially his newest cd Lifeline but this is one of my favorites.

i've only had the great fortune of seeing Monte live 5-6 times. his performances are truly BEYOND WORDS.

Monte has made Christmas shopping easy for me again...i have ZERO reservations about buying multiple copies of ANYTHING he has published without hearing them first......sight unseen/sound unheard, i guess you'd say.

it's wonderful to know he's touring Europe and getting much more exposure..Monte has more than paid his dues.

Great CD. I bought it for my husband, he's always been a Fats fan and he loves it. All the artists did a wonderful job. Worth every penney.

From the moment when the MC announces "Brian Setzer and his 17-piece big band" on through Brian's "Thank You And Good-Night" amidst the last wild applause from the reprise of "Rock This Town" on Disc 2, this is among the most electrifying live albums I've ever heard! High energy...a performer who loves what he does, does it damn well, and knows how to communicate that to his band..er..ORCHESTRA and to his audience.

GREAT STUFF!

What is it? Rock n' roll? Big Band Swing Jazz? Urban blues? A maddening amalgam of 'em all? Who knows, and frankly, who cares? It Makes You Feel Good...so What more could you want???

GO GET IT!!

The Complete Atomic Basie

This was an early 1957 stereo Roulette recording and one of Basie's best albums. Capitol/Blue Note elected to remaster this masterpiece in mono, instead of using the stereo master. They should be ashamed to release this wonderful album in this form. The stereo version is amazing. If you can find a used copy the first mid 80's CD issue of this on French Vogue (which is in stereo) grab it! (try Amazon France) The only reason I don't give this domestic reissue just one star is that it does contain some alternate and out takes. Not everyone is into the "back to mono" movement.
