The name of this album should be "I Am the Greatest!" because that is what this album is for Stevie Ray. Any blues/rock lover will absolutely wear this CD out because it is the vary essence of SRV music. The only CD left to buy is his Live at Austin City Limits, his best performance ever in my opinion!

I love this C.D. The band has a lot of variety in their music. The are authentic Native Americans and they sound just great.
This is a great band and a great CD.

I have a soft spot for Southside & co., and think the first three Jukes albums are great pieces, in the same way the first three Boz Scaggs albums on Columbia are great.
BUT...I never took him or the band entirely seriously; they were more in the line of 'real good local guys who got a big hand up from Springsteen and Van Zandt.' In other words, I was not entirely sure what Southside brought to the game.
I get it now; this is the work of considerable musicians who are technically solid, and loaded with soul - and with the kind of self control you only get on *great* big band records. Southside's a helluva singer, and gets to the heart of Waits' songs - if you can't hear the music in Waits' own records because the instruments ... Read More:

Hi - I am an Aussie bloke who saw the film with my girl last night and I loved it and thought it was an ok movie.
There is a piece of music in the film where they are enjoying a BBQ on the pier. An old man starts to sing with a fiddle (violin) playing as his musical backup. Is this piece of music on the original soundtrack and if not, does anybody know what it is and where I can buy it?
It was just fabulous. There was so much feeling and meaning by the old man singing the song, it made the price of the movie ticket well worth it.
Good movie - it beats the hell out of seeing 453 "4 wheel drive Hummers" exploding in a thousand pieces on 5th Avenue.
What really enoys me (and I have fallen for it many times), many original ... Read More:

This cd is worthy of its reputation, and is the last great recording by Eric Clapton. "Malted Milk", "Walkin' Blues", "Layla", which he was able to successfully alter to fit an acoustic setting, "Nobody Know You When You're Down & Out", the classic made famous by Bessie Smith and later covered by an aged Scrapper Blackwell, and "Tears In Heaven", are all exceptionally great tracks. "Hey Hey" is not one of Broonzy's better songs, so I'm not sure why Clapton chose to record it. "Old Love" is mediocre, but "Running On Faith" is wonderfully done. This disc would have been even better if Clapton would have performed the material solo, much like the legendary Bluesmen he so greatly admired used to do, day in and day out. However, he has admitted in interviews ... Read More:

I never, met Bonnie, but I knew her former boyfriend, Dick Waterman, who managed the old timers, like Son House, Fred McDowell, Skip James, as well, as back then Buddy Guy, Jr. Wells, and Luther Allison.
Bonnie cut her eye teeth playing with the old guys, learning that bottleneck thing, and she does justice to it. Just as John Mooney, who learned from Son House, does.
BTW, I recorded Eddie'Son'House in the fall of 1969 in my dorm room, before that fateful day when some kids, wanting to learn bottleneck, gave him a jug of wine. One bitter cold night in Rochester, a snowdrift, and frost-bitten fingers...and Son House's career was history.

This cd is in the laid-back style of JJ Cale. At first, it seemed almost too uneventfull, but with repeated listenings, I've come to appreciate its subtlety more and more.
If you happen to be preparing for an MMA fight, this isn't likely to be your choice for training music. If, on the other hand, you want to get into a mellow mood and smell the flowers for a while, Road to Escondido will take you there in a flash.
I hope there will be a follow-up from these two terrific musicians.
