I thoroughly enjoyed the CD. However, someone got hold of my credit card info & charged over $600.00 on Amazon.com. Fortunately, my credit card company noticed the charges, informed me & put a block on any subsequent charges. Needless to say, I'm a little "gun-shy" after the experience. I was able to recoup the bogus charges but I had to create a new account, obtain a new credit card, etc. Any suggestions?

I read somewhere once that if you really want a composite of what Stevie Ray Vaughan was all about, musically, all you need is this DVD. I totally agree. I have a half dozen SRV discs or tapes but nothing tops this.

You get two concerts, one on each disc. The first is the "controversial" 1982 concert at Montreux (in Switzerland) and the other is the 1985 return trip to Montreux. The first was "controverial" in the reception Vaughan and his band received during and immediately after the performing: booing! It is shocking to hear. I've never heard an artist booed on a disc put out for public release, but it's in here. (There were a lot of cheers, too.) Of course, the booing and catcalls were totally unwarranted. After listening to "I Keep Forgetting we're Not in Love any more" on the radio I was overwhelmed by the elixir of nostalgia. I ordered the Michael McDonald's Ultimate Collection CD immediately, and I was filled with unexpected pleasure when this album arrived so quickly from Amazon

I kept playing one song after another, enjoying each step of the journey with a true artist. The Ultimate Collection of Michael McDonald is a great addition to every music collection.

There are fine reviews of this CD, some with historical background,. others, with an appreciative ear, most know better, esp. more than me.

I would only suggust that Jr. Wells, Buddy Guy, Jack Myers, oughta try to get reparations from Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Siegal-Schwall Band, Electric Flag, and all other Chicago imitative blues bands.

There are some truly haunting performances here, and some funny ones, and some of everything, really. This stuff is so far deeper and weirder and spookier than any folk I've ever heard. It's the motherlode; Harry Smith wandered around and got these recordings before radio started, and thus we get true folk music, passed down the generations and from that area, or from the motherland of the musicians, with the spirit of the New World.
The vibes are palpable, varied, and intense. Lots of "mistakes", but so much feeling that missed notes only add to the experience.

Irma Thomas cast a musical spotlight for me this summer when one of her tracks, "The Same Love That Made Me Laugh," from I Believe to My Soul floated at the top of my personal top ten and wouldn't come down. I needed to listen to more. How amazed I am at the sensational "Simply Grand"! The opening track penned by John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival fame was on his CD Revival. Irma's gospel treatment is delightful. Dr. John joins her on piano on "If I Had Any Sense I'd Go Back Home" with Irma's bluey vocals. "Too Much Thinking" tries to put on a smile despite a life beset with constant challenges, "I'm never ready when my rent comes due, I just go hungry when my money's through, I keep quiet when the bill collector calls, Most times those things ...
