When I was 13, my older cousin took my brother and me to an ice cream shoppe in Westport, CT (don't know if it's still there, don't even recall the name). The shoppe had an area that sold candy, merchandise and vinyl records. My cousing bought this album for me. It was my first exposure to rock (being raised on Mantovani, Peter Nero, 101 Strings and Perry Como). The shop was a colorful, magical place, and my cousin took the lp from the shelf and put it in my hands. When I played it at home I was blown away by the harmonies and lush sounds that originated from vinyl records. This is my first rock record, and has always been my favorite.

I expected not to love this album based on a few negative reviews. I love being surprised. 'Heavier Things' is the most underrated Mayer album in my opinion....obviously it contains the Grammy-winning 'Daughters', but 'Clarity', 'Bigger Than my Body' and 'Split Screen Sadness' are equally loveable tunes. It's interesting when Mayer sings 'Wheel' and 'Something's Missing', you feel like you've been there, exactly where he's at, at some point in your life, and he knows it. The lyrics are so easy to relate to. Give it a TRY! :-)

The new record from Wilco, in short, works a little better in theory than in practice. The general standout value of the album is that it is filled with more mellow lo-fi songs than Wilco usually makes. This is exactly the kind of album we have waited for from Wilco, although I haven't quite scaled all the reaches of their career so I can only say so much. But a little less country and a little more rock and roll seems like the ideal new direction after having made A Ghost Is Born, possibly the bands most riff-y electric album yet. So it is really nice to have a few more mellow songs. But the album isn't as mellow as you have been told. There are a myriad of louder stomps that Wilco has made before. The quality is pretty mixed. There is some stuff that ... Read More:

I maintain a collection of over 8,000 albums from every genre. This album is easily one of my most top 10 ten favorites of all time, and a must have. It's simple but highly effective in its purpose, it rocks. Enough said.

It's always good to hear Waylon, & this greatest hits covers most stuff. I would have liked to have had more examples of his work with Chet & some with Jesse, but what are ya gonna do. The man sang with the voice of God, a powerful virile, awe-inspiring baritone, yet full of tremulous emotion-sometimes wracked with the pain of life's mistakes & broken hearts, often self depracating humor. Any one who knew him or saw him in concert knew he was funnier then the hell he often sang about, a trait he shared with Elvis. If you only have room for one Waylon cd on your shelves, this is the one to own

One could spend a lifetime an never can say enough about the fab four. The second of the series, this has the music that I my mind is the most creative period of the Beatles. To listen to the evolution of "Strawberry Fields" or any of the songs, is to hear how such musical genious is created. However, the song that stands out is the newly discovered "Real Love" which starts the cd. Poignant strains of piano and guitar haunt this melody. More so when you remember that John and George are no longer with us except in our hearts.

just an enjoyable album. you wont find any year of the cat or time passages on this just a bunch of good tunes, and al's voice is as good as ever. songs still have history or nostalgia to them.

Paisley is a great musician, one of the more witty song writters around. So not only do you get to listen to good music, but if you pay attention to the lyrics your will end up laughing also. He is a better guitarist than he gets credit for.

This album is one that everyone should own. It's a classic, and it's an absolute essential. Jimmy Buffett is the undisputed king of the musical genre he created. Listen, enjoy, and visit his world. You may never want to go home.
