Steeldrivers' sound has the raw alt country flavor rolled in bluegrass. The songwriting on the disc is consistently strong as Mike Henderson's mandolin, Tammy Rogers' fiddle & Richard Bailey's banjo give the music a cohesive style. From the opener "Blue Side of the Mountain" to the closer, this is a strong set. "Blue Side of the Mountain" has a howl like a vintage recording by The Band with Chris Stapleton's vocals moody & desperate, "I'm going back to a world of shadows, Got to find peace before I lose my mind, on the blue side of the mountain where the sun don't ever shine." This is a good christmas album, if you like country music. I personally like his Honky Tonk CHristmas album better. BUt these are all traditional christmas tunes.

I really enjoy listening to this CD. The radio doesn't play nearly enough Tracy Chapmans songs. I have only ever heard 2 played on the radio and I listen to a wide variety of music. I'd say that I definitely got my moneys worth. And as always the delivery time was excellent.

It was with "Freewheelin'", his second album, that Bob Dylan established himself as a great songwriter. Featured are all-time classics like "Blowin' In The Wind", "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall" and "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright". But some lesser known gems, such as "Bob Dylan's Dream", are also included. "Masters Of War" is at an anti-war song with Dylan at his most venomous and "Girl From The North Country" is one of his most beautiful romantic ballads.

This is a young, idealistic Dylan playing raw, stripped down folk music. But with witty, perceptive and extremely sardonic lyrics that take it to a whole new level. To see the glorious roots of the best songwriter of the last 50 years there is no better place to start than here.

This album always puts me in a state of hypnosis in which I become absorbed by it, unaware of anything else around me. I can't listen to it while I'm driving, It's just that good. Same goes for "On the Beach".

It seems like every time I turn around Tim McGraw is releasing another Greatest Hits CD. The difference between McGraw and some of the other artists that keep releasing recycled hits, is that McGraw has such a steady string of hits that he has excellent new material for each offering. Greatest Hits # 2 features 16 great songs, many of which highlight McGraw's smooth voice and incredible selection of songs. He continually chooses songs that seem to resonate with people. From ballads to faster songs, McGraw seems to be at home in most styles. Not many artists can sound just as at home with Faith Hill and Nelly. My personal favorites are: The Cowboy in Me, Red Ragtop, and My Little Girl. There is not a bad song in the bunch. This is 5 star excellence from McGraw.
