MCMXC A.D.--Enigma's debut album--was released in 1990. The seven compositions are seamless and play like an extended piece. The material is in a New Age musical direction. The album's sound quality is pleasing. I have always enjoyed listening to this piece of work over the years. Words to characterize MCMXC A.D. would be mysterious, refined, smooth, and creative. I like every one of the tracks. The Gregorian chants, the sounds of the flute, and the pulsating beats are what I find most memorable about this album. The disc is just over 40 minutes. MCMXC A.D. is recommendable.

Just bought this CD a couple of weeks ago. I enjoyed listening to it because there's something different about these music compared to contemporary ones. Although obviously they are very modern, you can say Moby's technique of utilizing notes harks back to medieval times. The prolongation of some notes (which are hypnotizing) resembles those of the chants used in religious services. The transitions can be compared to majority of the classical/baroque music. And who could miss the vocals that resemble arias?

1976 was an epic year for great albums - Eagles' 'Hotel California', Jackson Browne's 'Pretender' and J.D. Souther's 'Black Rose' to name just three - and 'Silk Degrees' is right up there with the greats.
Commercially, 'Silk Degrees' was a slow starter, looking like it might sell 200-300,000 copies. But DJs gave "Lowdown" a lot of airplay, word got around and the album became a five-million-seller, charting for 115 weeks and yielding three hit singles. Truly a breakthrough album for Boz Scaggs.
And this success was richly deserved. 'Silk Degrees' is a seamless blend of pop, rock and blues, classy, stylish, beautifully performed and produced. Every song is memorable. The album's tone was 'balmy nights beside the pool'.

Like with most Streets CDs, it takes me several listens to really catch on. I picked up on A Grand Don't Come for Free pretty easy and retroactively picked up Original Pirate Material. So I anxiously awaited the release of Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living. However, when I got it, it took a long while (a couple of months of forced listening) before I could say, yes, Mike has made a record of extreme quality.
Now, on to the record at hand. Everything is Borrowed was the same way for me. It was tough to digest at first. At this point, I can say that it is THE most played record on my ipod. There's just a great, warming feel to this disc and I can't get enough Skinner.
Highly recommend this disc... especially if you've heard and ... Read More:

Just to prove that I have nothing against Sasha, I continue buying and listening to his music, good or bad. And I do so hoping (for a very long time now) that Sasha will be resurrected from his self inflicted wounds that lead to his musical demise as I have stated before in another review. I mean, he is an icon whether we like it or not. But it just hurts (at least for me) all that more every time this legend's downfall is substantiated. I mean The EmFire Collection got absolutely nowhere and now we have Invol2ver in our hands, with fond memories of the old involver, and a big letdown.
The work:
What's with all the other reviews of "more of the same", "just like the first one" & "as good as the first one" really mean? I honestly don't believe ... Read More:

I used to fall asleep to this album throughout my middle-school years of heartache and pop-worship. This is my favorite compilation CD. It has the 4 songs that, to me, sport a tattoo of the 80s on their foreheads: "Video Killed the Radio Star", "Everybody (Wang Chung) Tonight", "Centerfold" and the epic "Jessie's Girl".

I bought this cd to help me through a rough period of anxiety and agoraphobia. I listened to it once and was hooked! It's beautiful music and it really does seem to help calm the soul. Sometimes I listen to it as I walk, and always as I'm falling asleep at night. I copied it to my mp3 player and listen to it as I go about my day. I think it must have some healing quality as my anxiety has abated quite a bit and I feel pretty good. And the music is lovely - I never tire of it!
