I am over 60 and thoroughly enjoy this newly discovered media. I had never heard of Deb Talen before and happened on an NPR interview recently, bought this, and I am a fan. Others I have shared this music with, 30-60 year olds, seem to agree with my review. Now I am purchasing more titles and look forward to future music from The Weepies. Odd name, great music.

After reading numerous POSITIVE Reviews I thought I would give this CD a shot, as I am also a fan of early 1900's French and Parisian Music... and this CD was extolled to be such....and these were also very romantic times! Well, as we all have broad tastes in music so do I and when I say my tastes are broad, I'm being conservative as about the only thing I don't like is Opera and Rap! Anything else in between usually works! However, not this CD! I've TRIED listening to every track and was, today, on my 3rd-attempt to try and find something about it that I could enjoy! I got up to selection #5 and hit the eject button! To me it was nothing but noise, more noise and then some more!! It's going on eBay tomorrow for 1-cent plus shipping! Look ... Read More:

...when you think of all the great songs and bands heard on Season 1.I'm totally hooked on the show and have it on DVD,so I had to buy the CD just for the sake of having it.But it feels like someting's missing.12 Tracks isn't enough at all when you think that the OMFGG version sold on Itunes contains 15 (what happened?!...).And most of the tracks aren't the key ones of the season to.Not a single song from the pilot is on the CD as there should have been one,aside from "hard to live in the city","the gift" or "bounce with me" for example.Maybe number 2 will be as good as the one from the O.C,but don't let us wait too long please...

Kate Voegele is a talented young singer and song writer. Much potential as she continue to grow in her musical career. Her vocal may not be the strongest, but have a sweet delightful tone and will improve with time. She reminded me a little of a young Carly Simon... Appeared to play the guitar pretty darn good too. This album have a good vibrant pop quality and decent ballads... Too bad the CD version does not include the "Hallelujah" song which is available on MP3.

It was with "Freewheelin'", his second album, that Bob Dylan established himself as a great songwriter. Featured are all-time classics like "Blowin' In The Wind", "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall" and "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright". But some lesser known gems, such as "Bob Dylan's Dream", are also included. "Masters Of War" is at an anti-war song with Dylan at his most venomous and "Girl From The North Country" is one of his most beautiful romantic ballads.

This is a young, idealistic Dylan playing raw, stripped down folk music. But with witty, perceptive and extremely sardonic lyrics that take it to a whole new level. To see the glorious roots of the best songwriter of the last 50 years there is no better place to start than here.

The Bootleg Series, Vol. 4: Bob Dylan Live, 1966: The "Royal Albert Hall Concert"

For a while the most bootlegged rock record of all. When this was released in 1998 I rushed out and bought it immediately. I had an old cassette recording that somebody had copied from somebody else from a bootleg LP. So at least 3rd hand and thought I would never see the day that Dylan allowed this to be issued properly.

I'm not going to talk about the recordings, as other reviewers have already covered these in ample detail. The CD's (2) are well packaged with a 54 page booklet which gives you a lot of information into the background and history of these recordings. As a leftfield starter the booklet mentions the famous 1913 Stravinsky performance of "The Rite of Spring" which caused a riot. The best album I heard this year!!!
Better than the others. So, this is really mature, simple, elegant, it beats modern and particular...sounds good...the perfect album!!!

Garden State

I can't even tell you how many times I've purchased a movie soundtrack only to be disappointed by the mediocre (at best) collection. Before Garden State, I'm pretty sure the last soundtrack I bought was for Men in Black back in '97. Major disappointment there.

So when I locked onto the Garden State soundtrack, I wavered. I checked out the song clips on Amazon and decided to sit on it for awhile. But I couldn't get the clips out of my head. Do you have any idea how annoying it is to only know 30 seconds of a great song? So I finally gave in. I purchased the CD, and worried that somehow it was going to turn out like one of those movies where they show all the good parts in the preview.

Several years later and this album is still among my Top 10 most played albums. ... Read More:
