It was with "Freewheelin'", his second album, that Bob Dylan established himself as a great songwriter. Featured are all-time classics like "Blowin' In The Wind", "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall" and "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright". But some lesser known gems, such as "Bob Dylan's Dream", are also included. "Masters Of War" is at an anti-war song with Dylan at his most venomous and "Girl From The North Country" is one of his most beautiful romantic ballads.
This is a young, idealistic Dylan playing raw, stripped down folk music. But with witty, perceptive and extremely sardonic lyrics that take it to a whole new level. To see the glorious roots of the best songwriter of the last 50 years there is no better place to start than here.

What great memories from days gone by. It is said that he is going back on tour. He may have been forgotten but no longer. I should have gotten this years ago. GREAT

Allison Krauss sets my heart singing with this collection of songs.
"Now that I've found you" is awesome. I love it because it is my theme song with my husband!

For a while the most bootlegged rock record of all. When this was released in 1998 I rushed out and bought it immediately. I had an old cassette recording that somebody had copied from somebody else from a bootleg LP. So at least 3rd hand and thought I would never see the day that Dylan allowed this to be issued properly.
I'm not going to talk about the recordings, as other reviewers have already covered these in ample detail. The CD's (2) are well packaged with a 54 page booklet which gives you a lot of information into the background and history of these recordings. As a leftfield starter the booklet mentions the famous 1913 Stravinsky performance of "The Rite of Spring" which caused a riot. Despite this excellent packaging its the recordings that ... Read More:

Wow...how does one go from the heights of lyrical magic (as heard on "Tiger") tearing your heart out over bad drugs, wounded lovers, and fragile recovery, and go to...this? "Cardinology" has every flaw seen in a scared, lazy, shallow album--songs that are familiar (but in a bad way--sooo predictable), crappy guitar-work with Godawful mixes, minimal tension and atmosphere....it's as if Senor R. crapped in his widdle pants and decided to frame it for the world to see. The steel guitar may actually be good, who would know, since it's buried in mud. Here's a laugh, I was actually thankful for the low song output on this effort, since it ended my pain. It's worse than bad...it's half-good. Ryan, wake up!

I can't even tell you how many times I've purchased a movie soundtrack only to be disappointed by the mediocre (at best) collection. Before Garden State, I'm pretty sure the last soundtrack I bought was for Men in Black back in '97. Major disappointment there.
So when I locked onto the Garden State soundtrack, I wavered. I checked out the song clips on Amazon and decided to sit on it for awhile. But I couldn't get the clips out of my head. Do you have any idea how annoying it is to only know 30 seconds of a great song? So I finally gave in. I purchased the CD, and worried that somehow it was going to turn out like one of those movies where they show all the good parts in the preview.
Several years later and this album is still among my Top 10 most ... Read More:

I bought this cd for my 6 month old son. He just smiled and smiled when we listened to the clip of You are my sunshine. I enjoy it on our car rides very much! Some of the songs I remember loving and growing up with from Sesame Street, and Schoolhouse Rock.

while I agee that for a Donovan Fan this set is Fantastic,If Don comes
off with a ego ,let him be ,He never gets the respect a artist of his talent should.
As for this set,Sure its great, sure its long, but the one
thing that seems to happen with most of these things is the clips aren't allowed to play through, they are mostly edited .Yes a few are on the
nice extra dvd.But far too many aren't ,Wheres the rest of the BBC
in Concert(which looks like a Dub here)
But clips most cost a lot of money,so maybe thats what happened

I love all music recorded by Eva Cassidy and am trying to learn guitar similar to her recordings. What a sad business she had to leave us so soon.
