OK, I've been a MCC fan-have most of her stuff, and once again, just like all of the other media-induced biased robots from Hollywood to New York-continue jumping on the bandwagon of the loud-mouths to judge and point fingers, when most of those people do not have the first sense or clue of the issues, or how we get to where we are at any given time. You cannot put all of the issues & challenges(when was the last time we ever had to deal with a 9/11?!) of this diverse and complex nation into a box, and label it. People in this country are some-so uninvolved and/or clueless, they're happy just to be able to get a fix by griping and complaining and be a bunch of spoiled cry-babies. this album sucks. i can't even listen to it all the way through. he really has potential but blows it with way too poppy chorus bull.

also, the seller said it was in very good condition yet the disc and case were scratched to hell.

In reviewing Bob Dylan's 1965 classic album Bringing All Back Home (you know, the one where he went electric) I noted that it seemed hard to believe now that both as to the performer as well as to what was being attempted that anyone would take umbrage at a performer using an electric guitar to tell a folk story (or any story for that matter). I further pointed out that it is not necessary to go into all the details of what or what did not happen with Pete Seeger at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965 to know that one should be glad, glad as hell, that Bob Dylan continued to listen to his own drummer and carry on a career based on electronic music.

I've read some very well thought out and critical comments for other albums on here that speak of the artists talents, shortcomings, etc. This isn't one of those, mine is all about emotion. Listening to this album is almost a rapturous experience for me. This music, the voice, the lyrics...they reach so very deep into me and stir otherwise sleeping feelings of love, desire, fear, loss and the unique pleasure of merciful solitude.

Regardless of whether Tom Gabel is performing solo or with Against Me!, his songs make me want to learn every word and scream along at the top of my lungs. I can't think of any higher praise than that.

Sure, some of the production choices on "Heart Burns" are questionable, but in the end the enjoyment of this music comes from Gabel's amazingly intense voice. This guy's blood is overflowing with electricity, and his delivery could make even a mediocre song sound thrilling.

Not that there's anything mediocre about the songs on "Heart Burns." Every song on this album is killer in its own way.

My favorites, though, are "Amputations," which gets to the heart of the anti-war movement; "100 Years of War," which might as well be the ... Read More:
