This album, in short, is a great conglomeration of different Irish music and instruments native to the land. The voices of these ladies can only be compared to angels and the sweet, soft vibrato of their harmonic sounds blend so well together!

Lila Downs pulls out the stops on this record and covers a wide range of styles - but with superb skill and results! She even looks different on the cover photos from her earlier recordings. This woman is "Shakin'".

With the exception of the last song on the disc (Oh, Had I a Golden Thread), these songs were recorded live as Eva Cassidy performed and sang them -- no overdubs or substitutions -- and they sound great. Her voice is wonderful, bright, crisp and clear, and she has a way of making each song her own. The recording also includes her introductions to the songs. If you have her other CDs then you owe it to yourself to get this live set.

It wasn't that long ago that Rodrigo y Gabriela put out another live disk (Live Manchester and Dublin, 2007) so probably not a surprise that this overlaps with that a little (FOC, One, Take Five). This has more songs from their last studio album (Rodrigo y Gabriela) like "Stairway to Heaven" that wasn't on the other live disk.
If you like acoustic guitar you should give this a try. Kind of a blend of heavy metal and acoustic with Spanish guitar influences. Lots of energy - NOT boring. I guess it must take a while to create one of these songs because I heard them in concert in 2007 do Pink Floyd "Wish you here" and I wish that was here on this disk. They do a little tease of Jimmy Hendrix on here that I wish was a whole song. More ... Read More:

If you enjoy Celtic music, this is a must. Some good old standards done with humor, gusto and haunting harmonies. It's a "must have" if only for the rendition of "The Parting Glass". Don't pass this one by! Product was just as described by the vendor and shipping was without problems. Be sure and check out the DVD version as well. There are always treats that are missed on the CD alone.

First of all let me say I LOVE SIMON AND GARFUNKEL and their music is wonderful. But what we have here is somebody's mistaken idea that a greatest hits album should for some reason not include greatest hits! That's what I thought when the album was first released on vinyl, and here we are still dealing with this rip-off almost four decades later. And I do mean RIP OFF because nowhere on the jacket does it say that several of the tracks are alternate live recordings and that the applause at the end of those tracks absolutely ruins the beginnings of the real hits that are included. Hearing Bridge Over Troubled Water on this album makes me cringe!!!! Buyer beware! This is not what you're looking for. You owe it to yourself to opt for Sony's Best ... Read More:

If you have a blu-ray player and a surround sound system this is a must buy. These discs will be what you use to show off the quality of your system.
Included are two full concerts (on two discs), 8 songs with a live chamber orchestra and a few extra performances exclusive to the blu-ray version. The video is a flawless 1080p and the audio is lossless DTS-HD master 5.1. The difference between the blu-ray and the DVD is beyond comparison. Much like the Planet Earth series, you really have to see (and hear) it to believe it.
For Jewel fans, there is no reason not to buy this. Although the price is a bit steep (in line with most blu-rays), this one is worth every cent. You are essentially buying two full concerts and the all around quality is beyond ... Read More:

Loreena McKennitt is one of the least known Irish folk singers while being one of the best. I've known about her for about 10 years and have several of her cd's. I first heard her while listening to an Irish radio station on the internet and heard her sing "The Highwayman" which is an epic poem. I was blown away and HAD to have that cd and after hearing the rest of the music on it, have become a big fan. Take a chance and you will not be disappointed.
