For most artists, putting out their sophomore album is one of the most trying times in their career. Many artists second albums pale in comparison to their first, both artistically and in sales figures. Carrie Underwood's second project, Carnival Ride, breaks through the stereotypes and is poised to eventually sell more and become more respected than the previous album, Some Hearts. Vocally, Carrie has become more talented on this record, if that is even possible. All of the songs on the album were hand selected, with Carrie even co-writing a few, and it is obvious that much thought was given to the tracks on the album. This is a stand out and one of my favorites in mainstream country music today!

After a month of listening to this - I can finally agree that this is one of the best Cure records. At least in a very long time.

It has equal elements of 'Wish' & 'Wild Mood Swings' in terms of mixing just the right amount of pop with equal parts angst and darkness.

'Underneath the Stars' starts the record just perfectly as any Cure opener should.

'The Only One' continues to evolve in my ears. Each time I hear new/different nuances. It's a very solid song.

'Freakshow' & 'Sirensong' both remind me why I loved 'Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me' so much - they create these perfect pop songs just long enough (yet not long enough at all) to hook you and then they all but disappear.

I LOVED this CD! I'm a long time Kid Rock fan and while I do enjoy most of his music, this CD is a great demonstration of his bluesie side with a lotta rock mixed in. I'm still not tired of listening to it. If you like Kid Rock, you HAVE to own this CD.

If you don't know Emmylou Harris at all, buy anything she's ever done. The worst that you'll get is really good. This album is lovely, if low-key and sad. There is a strain of American music - the only authentic strain aside from Afro-American - embodied in country, folk and some rock based on the former two that is heart-piercing, but absolutely lovely. And Emmylou Harris - who defies labels - does it best of all (though her version of "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" - elsewhere - rocks with a kind of tough cynicism that the Broadway showtune never had.) I've seen her up close in a small concert and she is the very epitome of grace, modesty and beauty. This is seriously one of the best Christmas albums that I have heard in a while. It is more low tempo than much of the previous music by Casting Crowns, so I think it may even appeal to some people who are not fans of their other music. My mom grew up listening to music like Karen Carpenter, but she also thinks that this is a good album. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a decent Christmas album.

P.S., I was very pleased to see that this album includes another version of the song "While You Were Sleeping". I consider that one to be the best Casting Crowns song ever.

I Am...Sasha Fierce (Deluxe Edition)

Leave it to Beyonce to take risks because that is exactly what she did on this album and what a great result.

With "I Am..." she shows you the true artistry that she possess. From songs like the hit single "If I Were A Boy" to the next potential "Halo", she definitely caters to the masses. But on song like "Ave Maria", "Satellites", and "Broken-Hearted Girl" she digs deep down and professes her love for someone special past and present. Anyone can relate to these songs.

On "Sasha Fierce" she is fierce indeed! With club-ready hits like "Radio" and "Diva" we are sure to hear these songs being bumped in the club and they are sure to get you moving. While "I Am..." is more personal we get the true diva that is Beyonce represents here. ... Read More:

T.I. is the boi! He rocked it on this one, but he stepped up his game something fierce on "Me Against The World." Oh you'll ride to this one. My favs on this joint are "Swing Your Rag" and "A Better Day"...but fortunately the whole CD is on point.

This set contains almost exactly what I wanted. The most important releases by one of my favorite bands, remixed in 5.1 surround. But there's quite a bit more than that.

It also contains nearly all of the existing video footage of the band from that time. Let that soak in. Most of it is in better quality than ever seen before. I think my VHS copy of the Midnight Special performance might be in better shape than theirs, but that's a minor complaint.

The set also contains the recently rediscovered Jackson Tapes. This was a 1970 recording session for a documentary about the painter Michael Jackson. In this recording, you can hear the compositional beginnings of The Fountain of Salmacis, Anyway, and the Musical Box, but with Anthony ... Read More:

This is an excellent album. The band is having a lot of fun on it. Every song is good, and rocks. Angus does some slide guitar, and one song sounds like a ZZ Top song in the beginning. Get the expanded cd version. This is the one I have. It has additional photos, concert photos, and the song lyrics. Listened to it twice. Love it. Can't wait to listen to it again.
