The Slip [Vinyl]

Search: Demon Seed
by: Nine Inch Nails

The downward spiral indeed. Reznor continues his artistic liberations via no record contracts, although it is becoming more and more clear that, unlike Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails used that platform to capitalize on it's popularity and fan base by releasing sometimes less restrained, but almost always less detailed songs. The Slip works well enough to provide ample counterpoint to his last snooze-fest of industrial ambiance, Ghosts I-IV, with a way more uptempo, rocking vibe, but still continues down a path of sagging mediocrity. Reznor will always be a perceptive producer and offer intriguing soundscapes- even at his most generic or derivative, but it feels like the overall compositional quality has declined.

Synthetic Fury EP

This album is incredible. Songs vary from drum n' bass to trip hop to experimental - no rapping like some of his other albums. All songs have an futuristic, ethereal, movie-like quality. Great use of samples - my favorite is the 'Aliens' sample at the beginning of the 'Synthetic Fury' track.

These guys are fun. It's always hard to discern good psychobilly from bad, but I can say with 89% certainty that these guys are good. I'm having a damn good time listening to these guys. Of course, the large amount of nutter butters I just ate might have something to do with it. Yknow, if you think about it, nutter butters are the best kind of peanut butter cookie, cuz normal peanut butter cookies are hard and crappy and don't even taste like peanut butter. You have to really dig for that peanut buttery taste. That's why I don't eat peanut butter cookies and stick with nutter butters.

Hellbilly Storm

by: Demented Are Go

March 14, 2006
Veterans of the psychobilly scene, Demented Are Go have contributed plenty of quality releases and performances to their extremely appreciative fans (of which I am one myself), and this latest release is no exception! There appear to be some new faces in the line up, but Sparky and crew have certainly lost none of their edge on Hellbilly Storm. "Pedigree Scum," a dark, raunchy B-movie punk stomp, is the perfect opening number. Next comes "the Noose (That Snapped)," which brings the listener back to much more familiar Demented territory, as it is more typical of the band's sound; however, this does not diminish it in any way, as it is a great psychobilly number done in a way that only this band can. "Hellbilly Storm" is perhaps the quintessential ... Read More:

by: Gorefest

Gorefest's "Soul Survivor" is one of the best Rock/Metal albums of its era.A lot of people will say its a drastic departure from Gorefests pure death metal, but if a band doesnt evolve its sound then they will go down in history of the genre as just another statistic.Fortunately,"Soul Survivor" shows how talented Gorefest is.From beautifully crafted melodies to heavy riffs and nicely done solos, this album has it all.I've followed Gorefest since their begginings and this album is still my favorite. You have to be openminded enough to appreciate a masterpiece like this.

by: Tad

August 15, 1995
It's like a live best of album, Tad was probably the most metal drawn grunge dubbed band of the era (Except maybe Willard.) They fuse black sabbath era metal with southern rock and distorted energetic wierdness. Throat Locust is an awesome lead off track and It sounded even better on this album.
