This is a pretty pared down d'Elf outing, mostly a quartet, but the front line of Tronzo's sometimes "prepared" guitar and Maneri's versatile electric viola makes for a wide-ranging, very engaging sound palette in which keyboards, or anything else for that matter, are not missed at all. Fabulous stuff and a steal at 10 bucks on iTunes, though $20 for a double CD sure isn't bad either.

This extraordinarily valuable album captures wonderful music and wonderful performances from a different era. It takes you back to the days when all of this music was fresh and new. I'm sorry that it wasn't what the other reviewer expected, but she shouldn't have given it a single star. She expected steak. She got lobster. Her mistake, not the lobster's.

...and something quite a bit different.
While concert halls often have pipe organs installed (making it possible to perform, for example, the Saint-Saëns Third Symphony, or the Second and Eighth Symphonies of Mahler), not all do, and, of those that do, more than a few are sub-standard. If one were to assume that some concert hall managements don't take their pipe organ installations seriously, one would be correct.
Fortunately, the powers that be who administer and manage Chicago's Orchestra Hall thought differently a few years back, and underwrote the installation of a new pipe organ specifically designed and built for the hall and its acoustics by Casavant Frères. While hardly the largest of its type, at "only" ... Read More:

As much as I enjoy Andi Deris's work with Helloween and think he was the perfect choice to replace Michael Kiske, it's good to hear his voice on a melodic rock album again. Deris cut his teeth on this kind of music while a member of Pink Cream 69, and though he's moved on to bigger things, it's obvious he still has a knack for melodic hard rock.
Come in from the Rain sounds very similar to those first few Pink Cream 69 releases in that it is very melodic with a harder edge. The songs are well-written, though perhaps not quite as good as Deris's collaborations with Dennis Ward. The album should appeal to most AOR/melodic hard rock fans, and should be particularly appealing to Pink Cream 69 and latter day Helloween fans.
