This collection contains not only a slew of your juke box fav's,
but also old rocker tunes too. This is for everyone who enjoys music
from Johnny Cash to Canned Heat, from Willie Nelson to the Ozark Mountain Daredevils. This CD is guaranteed to bring you old anthems, and perhaps, as for me, a tune or two I did not have in my collection such as Johnny Cash's "Busted." The range of these cd's from Boxcar Willie to Woody Guthrie and John Mayall and Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen convey a musical sense over a long period of time and cannot be contained in a single genre. This is for popular music lovers everywhere. From Country to Country Rock to Rock from Ferlin Husky to Elton John and more. If you do not like this cd, you ... Read More:

This CD is a twofer of these albums from 1966, remastered from 1999: "The Man Behind The Badge" which is an album of songs about police and the law and features "Highway Patrol" a top 40 hit for Red which would later be covered by Junior Brown, the classic "Johnny Law" and others, and "Roll, Truck, Roll", an album of songs about trucks and truck driving, his forte, which features the hit title track and others which the majority of the album, minus "Big Mack," "My Baby's Waitin'" and "Runaway Truck" are on Razor & Tie's US domestic anthology "The Best of Red Simpson: Country Western Truck Drivin' Singer." The liner notes and packaging are well done as they basically reproduce the front and back covers of the original vinyl issues of both ... Read More:

Country music and truck driving reached an intersection several decades before the crossover popularity of C.W. McCall's "Convoy." The regional itinerancy of country musicians, touring the signal range of radio giants like WSM, WWVA and KWKH, found them pounding the same pavement as America's truckers, subjecting themselves to the same hardships of life on the road and writing about it in their songs.
As early as 1939, "Truck Driver's Blues," featuring vocals and piano from Moon Mullican, provided a lyrical template of the road ahead: weary, lonely days relieved by a cup of coffee, a honky-tonk gal and a couple of drinks before saddling up for the next day's ride. Many of these juke-box hits were aimed at gear-jammers themselves, celebrating ... Read More:

This is a very good disc! One previous reviewer didn't like it because they said it sounded too smooth, but I don't mind smooth music as long as it's good. Coe is a unique performer who can deliver raw (check out the Iron Horse Saloon disc),smooth, sentimental, or rough stuff and if you accept him as a versatile performer you'll enjoy this. I especially loved the bluesy renditon of House Of The Rising Sun!

Nice package of the final two Burrito albums. The 3rd is probably the weakeast of the three studio lps, but there are some good moments; "Can't you Hear me Callin'" and "Tried So Hard" most notable.Rick Roberts replaced Gram Parsons for this record, and some of his stuff is a little too commercial for what the Burritos had been doing. Not enough of Sneeky Pete and Bernie Leadon on this album either. The "Last of the Red Hots" cd smokes, with newcomer Al Perkins on steel and guitar burning it up, along with Chris Hillman and Michael Clarke.Good material, although the loss of Bernie Leadon is felt here as well. The bluegrass set is okay; could have done without the overplayed "Orange Blossom Special'.Two bonus tracks, both Gene Clark songs are included: the 45 ... Read More:
