M-Audio PROKEYS 88SX 88-Key Lightweight Stage Piano with Semi-Weighted Action

Childrens Toy Shop > Musical Instruments > Digital Pianos
from: M-Audio

I have had the keyboard now for five months and I love it. Played the piano as a kid, but hadn't touched one for years. I do most of my playing at night when my husband is trying to sleep, so I use head phones and don't even have it connected to speakers. I think the sound and the feel are realistic. Love the fact that it is light enough for me to easily move or carry. I did find the sustain pedal that came with it difficult to use and ordered a different one from M Audio that seems to feel more like a regular piano pedal. Am really happy with this piano. Seems to be an excellent value for the price.

Casio PX120 Privia Digital Piano

Childrens Toy Shop > Musical Instruments > Digital Pianos

May 08, 2008
I received my PX-120 yesterday. I can affirm both the positive and negative aspects of all the previous reviewers. However, I would like to emphasize certain aspects of this keyboard.

The body of the PX-120 is very thin, so it is ideal for small spaces.

The keys feel absolutely amazing. If I were to close my eyes I would believe it was an acoustic grand piano.

However, the speakers are not very good at all. The sound, although realistic, sounds muffled when played over the keyboard's small, built-in speakers. With such an overall great design, I would not have thought that Casio would have overlooked this critical aspect of a keyboard. Alternately, when using an external sound source, the tone quality is ... Read More:

Yamaha NP30 Portable Grand Digital Piano

from: Yamaha

It turns out that the Yamaha NP30 is also.... a radio! After playing a couple of times, it started playing AM radio. I don't know how exactly the keyboard resonates with AM frequencies but it does and it sounds pitiful! Worse yet, the keys now sound as if they get transmitted from the station I'm "listening" to, with a lot of white noise. Very bizarre and resetting the power did not fix it, so it's now a permanent problem....

Casio AP45 Digital Piano (88 Keys with Weighted Action)

Childrens Toy Shop > Musical Instruments > Digital Pianos
from: Casio

I was looking for a dependable, relatively inexpensive alternative to a piano with a MIDI interface and the AP45 provides exactly what I was looking for. The weighted keys feel just like those on a stand-up piano, the sound is good, and it looks as much like a real piano as one could reasonably ask for. (While it's not the centerpiece of our living room like a baby grand would be, it is not at all an eyesore the way a Privia PX-110 on a standard stand would be. Overall, I'm happy with the appearance, especially when the cover is pulled over the keys.)

I should note that I don't use any of the advanced functionality. My family uses some of the preset sounds to mix it up, but for us the AP45 is basically a piano substitute that we can occasionally ... Read More:

Casio PX800 Privia Digital Piano with Weighted Scaled Hammer Action Keys

Childrens Toy Shop > Musical Instruments > Digital Pianos
from: Casio

I got the PX800 this summer and it is absolutely perfect for me! I am a music major with an emphasis in piano and I needed something small enough to practice on that would fit in my apartment and that felt and sounded as close to a real piano as I could possibly get. After much searching online and comparing many different models and brands, I finally found the PX800 and ordered it. The shipping only took a couple of weeks, and the set up wasn't too hard. (It is a good idea to have two people put it together.)

I am amazed at how much it sounds like a real piano! The speakers have a wonderful clean sound (although the sound comes from under the piano instead of the top). The keys are weighted and very touch-sensitive, allowing you to achieve the softest ... Read More:

Casio PX320 Privia Digital Piano

Childrens Toy Shop > Musical Instruments > Digital Pianos

May 08, 2008
I have played the Casio PX-320 for a couple weeks and am a beginner/intermediate piano player. The PX-320 keys have texture and shape and pressure and volume range and return speed that invites making music. The PX-320 is scaled (graded) so that treble notes are easier and quicker versus bass notes are harder and slower. The keys are weighted and have a simulated hammer action. For my taste the keyboard is a joy to play and is close to an acoustic piano.

I think the Yamaha YPG-635 and Yamaha P85 have at least as good touch and piano sound. I liked the Yamaha YPG-635 display and controls and features and sounds. The YPG-635 is too wide to lay flat in my car while the PX-320 lays on my back seat or back floorboard. The PX-320 base is flat and as large as the ... Read More:

Williams Overture 88 Key Digital Piano

Childrens Toy Shop > Musical Instruments > Digital Pianos
from: Williams

I'm certainly not a professional, however, I do know what a piano is supposed to sound like, and I know the difference between a Harpsichord, Organ, and a Harmonica: 'nuff said.

First of all I would like to say that the Williams Digital Piano is by far the best instrument I have ever owned, next to my toy, an old Casio keyboard that I owned for quite some time, I was happy to finally sell that off in a garage sale. When I went hunting for another piano, I took my Sony headphones and headed off to various stores with digital pianos. This one by far sounded the closest to a real upright piano (Well, the Yamaha was closer, but another 1K more expensive...), and it had the features and look I was wanting.

Pros ---
