My wife and I have been wanting to buy a piano for a long time but due to cost and transportation issues it has not been feasible. We have been looking at electronic pianos but it is difficult to find one that doesn't look like a glorified boom box, or that has a full keyboard with realistic action, or one that doesn't sound electric. For the price this has been a very satisfying experience.
As we just got it a month ago its a little too early to know how it will hold up. A drawback of being portable is that the removable stand is made of particle board. It has been my experience with such furniture that it does not hold up in the long run. Especially since the pedals are attached to this it has me a bit concerned. There is ... Read More:
I dont know why there is so much neg. feedback. I find the cradle easy to use. yes it does lack the AC power but I charge my cassiopeia every night and have no problems.
The picture displayed with the CASIO CTK 558 appears to be the more expensive WK1600. The CTKs are fine entry level keyboars with 66 keys. The WKs are a little more expensive and have a wider (72+ key) keyboard. Don't get fooled by the picture.
As a person who has played piano for more than a decade, I don't personally like this electronic keyboard.
I bought this keyboard for my temporary residence, hoping to use this one to practice my fingers while I'm not at home with my piano. Having played piano for so long, I was not sure when I bought this keyboard. The keys felt so different on this keyboard.
I don't recommend it for anyone who has played at least 1 year of piano, even if you want to have a cheap substitute for your temporary use (go with Yamaha, the DGX220 is a little more expensive but has a lot more features and feels).
If you are a beginner, it may be wise to purchase this keyboard for some practice.
This isn't the best keyboard on the market, as should be pretty obvious, but it is exactly what is advertised! The sound quality is about equal to many others that can range from 200 to 300 dollars, and the touch sensitivity isn't that bad at all.
As many others pointed out it doesn't come with an adaptor, (as many products don't), and it's not something anyone advertises on the box. I was able to pick one up from my local music store with no trouble, I think it was 20 dollars.
I never tried the practice features that come with it, but there are far better ways to practice! This keyboard is perfect for anyone just starting out to intermediate unless they're trying to become a concert pianist, in which case they really ... Read More:
Love this keyboard! The touch sensitivity is easily worth any perceived compromises in sound quality compared to Yamaha or other comparably-priced products. The button layout & functionality is comprehensive without being overwhelming. Manual is good--and on-line. Backlit display is also a plus, as is the midi connectivity & modest recording capability. Sound quality of pianos & organs is especially good. Not sure if that quality would be maintained direct through a p.a., but it is certainly of high enough quality for home recording & use in small clubs. Sounds are very tweakable, and the advanced tones are for the most part immediately useful. Guitar tones are good. Obviously more expression is possible playing an actual guitar, ... Read More:
