It is not a toy and the financial commitment is comfortable therefore perfect for the child(ren) just getting acquainted with music and what it can do. True it is a child guitar, it is acoustic and it lends itself well to classical and non-classical music. It gives the child the opportunity to explore chords and harmonize with other instruments, in this case a keyboard and a drum.

My daughter got this set for xmas when she was around 20 months. She's still playing with it all the time a year later. It's all quality stuff and she could use it all from the start. I was amazed at how fast she learned how the kazoo worked and it was not long after that she started in with the harmonica. The quality of construction is high, however, some of the paint on the egg shakers and on the drum surface now has small chips in it, so I would be careful if your child is still putting things in their mouth.

Never worked! We tried different brands of batteries but the keyboard never powered up. Made of very cheap plastic. Very disappointed!

Great ukulele for beginners or if you want to see if you'll like playing the ukulele. If you keep playing the ukulele I strongly suggest getting a better ukulele because its kind of flimsy.

Our son got one of these about 6 months ago, around his 2nd birthday. Now here we are, 6 months later, and this guitar is still serving its purpose - it's a toy.

He's not gentle with it. I've lost count of how many times I've seen him step on the body or the neck. It's still going strong. No broken strings, no quality problems at all.

Guys - if your 10 or 12 year old is taking guitar lessons - buy him a guitar, not a toy that happens to be shaped like a guitar.
