Zoom H2 Handy Portable Stereo Recorder

I was interested in a recorder to do interviews in the field and was entirely unsatisfied with other smaller and less expensive recorders manufactured by Olympus and Sony. Then I came across reviews for the Zoom H2.

The Zoom H2 was of interest because the online reviews indicated it was a good recorder for musicians. I'd found the other recorders I'd tried resulted in tinny voice tones, not fully recording voices in lower ranges. It was my hope that the Zoom H2 would do as well for voice interviews as for music.

Zoom H4 Handy Recorder

I haven't heard a lot of talk about the H4's utility for video, so that's what I'm going to explore. With the price of mini-DV and even HD consumer camcorders continuing to come down, the one thing that separates (most of) them from the pro and prosumer camcorders is a lack of microphone inputs and a lack of a headphone output to monitor audio.

One of the overlooked uses of the H4 is that the Neutrik combine XLR and ¼" inputs (with phantom power) make it an ideal "front end" to interface pro microphones with consumer camcorders. Zoom G1X Guitar Multi Effects Pedal with Expression Pedal

I purchased this pedal and am very pleased with it. The quality of the effects is really very good, better than some of the high priced individual stomp box pedals made by the "big name" competitors.

The pedal seems sturdy, and is not that difficult to figure out how to use. There are two banks of effects, pre-programmed combinations of effects, and a bank for the owner/user to create and store their own
combinations in any order desired. The drum beat section is very good, too.

The modulation effects, phaser, flanger, chorus, etc.. sound pretty good and are highly adjustable.

Zoom G2 Guitar Effects Pedal with Drum Machine

This version of the zoom has a ton of features, and it is really rugged. I was wary of the G1 since it is plastic, but the G2 is solidly built with a decent metal body. The effects sound good, and the built-in tuner is great. The best part about the G2 is the price. I can't believe all the features for what this thing costs.

For a guy like me, who's a musician purely by hobby, this is a perfect investment because the price is reasonable, but the unit performs exceptionally well. It has a nice selection of effects, is programmable, and even has a built-in drum machine. I recommend this to anyone who wants to add some crunch to their playing without spending a small fortune.

Zoom G2.1U Guitar Effects Pedal with USB Interface

I tested one of those in a music stores, and I must say it sounded better than I expected. It has a very convincing wah-wah sound, and the "heavy distortion" sounds sound just like more expensive amp simulating units, like a POD. The only problem I can see with this multi FX is it doesn't have as many amp emulations as a POD or a VAMP-2, but if it had I just wouldn't use all of them, so I recommend this. A great pedal for a budgeted bedroom guitar player!

Zoom A2 Acoustic Guitar Multi Effects Pedal

I use this all the time with my acoustic playing groups. Its good for some effect.I find it helps to play with the effects, the drums and percussion sounds great with a Roland AC-60; helps to keep you up to speed with the music you are playing.
Very nice, very portable.
