Great for our 5 yr old who's learning to play, but seriously, where do you get an apaptor for it? I have a bag of like 20 different adaptors from old stuff and none of those work; when you look online, none of the adaptors say they work with CTK-700 so I don't want to buy it and have that also not work. We just keep buying batteries. It's a total waste of money. So unless you own a battery store, I wouldn't buy this one but instead go find another that comes with an adaptor.

Photon 25 MIDI Keyboard Controller

This is a very nice simple controller and is comparable to the M-Audio Oxygen8. It doesn't have all the glowing knows like the newer photon 25X, but it's just as responsive and enjoyable to use. It's perfect for amateur setups, especially for electronic musicians who want to play arpeggio or add a few pads. It has all the knobs you could possibly need. Plug into your USB, and it's ready to use.

**Edit** This now works with Microsoft Vista. You need to go to the Alesis support site, download the drivers and follow the instructions.

M-Audio Oxygen 8 25 Key Midi Keyboard Controller

I too am a guitar player and I bought this guy about 2 years ago to use with Sonar. I didn't plan on becoming a keyboard player, but I have, and I can thank this little guy for that. It is wonderfully non-intimidating with its small stature, only 2-octave keyboard. The knobs work inside your soft synths (Reaktor and Reason) just as advertised. The thing is, I always end up reaching for the mouse and so have almost never used the knobs on this guy. The 2-octave keyboard gets really cramped after awhile, so I just bought an M-Audio Keystation 88 ES. It's kinda like the exact opposite of the Oxygen - it has 88 weighted keys, and only a slider and 2 buttons (other than the wheels. of course).

My daughter received this as a Christmas present. After playing with it for two minutes (no kidding) the toy broke. I replaced the batteries but it still didn't work. I wasted my money on this, don't waste yours.

Casio PX-555CS Digital Piano with Stand

We bought this for our 7 year-old granddaughter who is a Suzuki violin student and exhibits a good ear for music. She doesn't play the piano yet; however, our neighbor is a church organist and a man who rebuilds old organs all over the upper Great Lakes area. He came over, played around on it and was very impressed with all that it could do.

Soon our little girl will begin piano lessons; we look forward to many a good hour of her fun and pleasure on this instrument, which sounds far far better than any spinet I've ever heard.

We also expect the "piano" to become a source of entertainment for her and her friends as they grow into adolescence.
