I learned "piano" on a Yamaha portable keyboard but was getting frustrated with the lack of touch sensitivity of the keys as my playing improved. This was a good upgrade for me as I can be more emotive while still keeping the instrument within my budget/skill level. The recording feature is a kick too as you can have a player piano effect. One bit warning for those doing similar upgrades, it did require a bit of a learning curve in terms of adjusting to the different sound of touch sensitivity but now it doesn't sound "weird" to me and I'm glad I made the switch.

I took 16 years of classical piano training and bought this keyboard to record accompaniments to vocal music for use in vocal training. My review consists of initial impressions on how the product measures up to my particular need:

Ease of use - as with other all-in-one electronic keyboards, the keyboard works when you turn it on with no adjustments. If you want to do ANYTHING other than use it in default mode, then the user guide must be consulted.

Similarity to an acoustic piano - keys are not weighted, 12 keys are missing as compared to an acoustic, and the keys are mighty slippery. I find my fingers slipping off the black notes quite a bit.

I ordered this keyboard for my granddaughter, who will be five soon, as a Christmas present. It arrived broken, and my son said it was very cheaply made. Jack's Tool Shed refunded my money and said, "We are not going to carry them anymore. Way too many have been received broken."

My money was refunded, but I feel very badly that I bought this for my granddaughter as a Christmas present feeling good about her enjoying playing a keyboard, and finding out that instead it was not only cheaply made but arrived broken with keys that were stuck and couldn't be unstuck.

Think twice before throwing your money to the wind, especially if you are sending this as a gift. You will be embarrassed, to say the least.

My wife has been playing piano for a little over a year now and was looking for a keyboard she could use to practice that would give her the feel of our real piano but that she could plug her headphones into and play without disturbing anyone, and this Yamaha was the prefect choice. It comes with everything so there's no need to buy stands or stools, easy easy to put together and sounds great. She tells me the keys feel great too, plus she loves being able to put it in harpsichord mode while playing some of her Baroque period pieces. Its sturdy, but doesn't way so much that its difficult to move (just awkward due to its size). and while it does rock a bit on its stand if you put it on carpet, it never feels like its about to fall over. we've been very ...
