I've owned both the Micron along with some other VA gear such as the ms2000b and korg ea1. While I sold my Micron about a year ago due to its steep learning curve, I just recently decided to purchase another. Why? simply because now that I actually understand subtractive synthesis I'll be able to move beyond using the few "cheesy presets" that so many people seem to judge the synth by. Also its nice having an all in one box with which I can string together entire simple songs on. In my opinion the user interface isn't nearly as difficult as some people make it out to be, however it is not good for learning signal flow on. The baby grand paino was smaller than expected plus it was not in the most mint condition either. There was a corner damaged at the front and the paino key guide sticker was not stuck on the paino securely. The paino itself is not as heavy as I thought it should be to protect toddlers from leaning on it and tipping it over. Plus there has been a stong paint smell that has continued to linger a month later. Overall though it is a cute first piano.

Plus there has been a stong paint smell that has continued to linger a month later. Overall though it is a cute first piano.

What a great price! I'm seeing it here on Amazon for $130 compared to the $200 price tag I saw at Target just yesterday. Boy am I grateful that I decided to shop around online first.

I am not a professional musician, but I have dabbled in music most of my life without ever settling on a specific instrument (I did blow a mean blues harp in the eighties). I was recently inspired to pick up an inexpensive keyboard after watching a PBS special demonstrating just how easy it is play the piano...as long as you're not expecting to become a classically trained concerto master, anyway. Heck, if I can handle a typewriter keyboard, then I might have enough dexterity to fumble out a song or two during the holidays, eh?
