How did I go without it before!? I'm a grad student and reading is my life for the next few years, so this little gadget has been such a handy dandy tool! Now I don't need to sit near a computer to use Dictionary.com or lug around a pocket dictionary that probably won't have all the complicated words I need anyway!

It was almost impossible to install the batteries, the voice was not clear enough and the batteries went out way too quickly

Franklin HW-1216 Children's Speller and Dictionary

I purchased this to keep handy for those "dorey" moments when I can't remember how to spell 'go'. I find this little speller to be a great little tool to have. I use it frequently and would recommend it to all. The keyboard is nice size and the lcd is actually readable; unlike some that are so small you can't see the letters. It's a simple and basic unit that is really fun to use for kids and for adults (btw, I am a grandmother, not a kid). I like it a lot but, I do not play the games or use the calculator so cannot comment on that area.

Fairly good product, extensive dictionary, easy to use, but not easy to see words on screen because the screen does not light up.

Franklin Electronic Spanish/English Dictionary

This dictionary has a lot of information packed into a slim case. Translating from English to Spanish or viceversa is a breeze. It doesn't matter if the user is a native English or Spanish speaker since it only takes a press of a button to switch language modes. I did not give it a five star rating becuase there were some words that were not in the dictionary. For example the English noun "sower" could not be found (??!!) and did not even recognize it as a word; however, I did find the verb "sow". I think this is a limitation of the Merriam webster dictionary included in the Franklin electronic dictionary. My suggestion is to remove the games and increase the vocabulary. In this day and age, I doubt it that the games included in the dictionary ... Read More:

I bought this device for my boss who is taking his wife to Paris. They have traveled alot to Italy, but never to Paris. My boss is what you would call "Technology Challenged" so I wanted to get him something that he could figure out pretty easily. He played around with it for a couple of hours and feels that he knows how to use it quite well. He is very happy to have it since he does not speak French at all.

Franklin TG-450 12 Language Translator

We needed to have a basic translator and we found this one at Amazon. I tried searching for other translators in other places, but the prices go up a lot and the number of words for each language stays relatively the same. This one has a fair amount of words for the price. But don't expect to find any advanced level words (although some of the words missing I might also consider basic... it seems a little random). But it will work for beginners. Amazon was also awesome as we had some problems in our building to receive it (they returned the package) and Amazon sent me another one very quickly.
