We bought this for our 6-year-old daughter, and she enjoys using it. It is simple enough that she can do it herself. However, within the first hour, the bulb burned out. We replaced it with the spare bulb that came in the box, and that one burned out less than a month later (and we do not use the microscope very much at all, she maybe turns it on a couple of times a week and never for very long). The slides that come with it are not very exciting, but we collected things from the yard to look at, and they showed up well.

Sounds like an interesting gadget. But why would you spend this much for unlimited phone service? I bought a magicjack for $40 for one year, it too offers unlimited calling in the U.S., and only $20 for each additional year. And the sound quality is very good. Think how many years of service you could buy with the money you would otherwise spend on Ooma. And guess what? You can buy magic jack on amazon.com! Just do a search...

Aurora AS890C 8 Sheet Crosscut Paper/Credit Card Shredder with Basket

The Aurora AS890C 8-sheet shredder does a fast job and is much quieter than the last one I burned up. It will jam if too many pages are fed in and it was hard to clear the cutters to get started again. Overall a good value if you're careful.

These inks are inexpensive and a great value for your dollar. Only buy authentic ink as some generic inks will smudge or damage your printer. I have used Canon brand ink for years and have nothing but satisfaction for them. Quality is consistent and is a trusted brand worldwide.

Olympus WS-210S Voice Recorder (141960) (Black)

I ordered this from Amazon, and then found a local deal on the WS-311M, which a teacher of mine uses. Being just a little type A, I played around with both of them to decide which to keep, and I've decided on the WS-311M.

Basically, the recorders seem to be identical in terms of ability and sound quality with few exceptions.

DIFFERENCES


--The WS-311M can also be used as a music player, though I don't really care about that.

--The WS-311M is a teeny-tiny bit larger and feels a little less plastic-y (though both are made of plastic). The bigger size and brighter color is actually a small plus for me, as I kept having a hard time finding the WS-210S in my bag.

Franklin HW-1216 Children's Speller and Dictionary

I purchased this to keep handy for those "dorey" moments when I can't remember how to spell 'go'. I find this little speller to be a great little tool to have. I use it frequently and would recommend it to all. The keyboard is nice size and the lcd is actually readable; unlike some that are so small you can't see the letters. It's a simple and basic unit that is really fun to use for kids and for adults (btw, I am a grandmother, not a kid). I like it a lot but, I do not play the games or use the calculator so cannot comment on that area.
