The design of this 3 piece pole system for mounting purple martin houses is well suited to the purpose for which it is intended. That said, for what one gets the price is a bit high. Nevertheless, it saved me the time and effort of designing a mounting system myself and for that I was willing to shell out the $60. The real rub came from the poles arriving damaged such that the interlocking ends of 2 of the 3 poles required a couple hours of shop time to reshape the male and female components of the poles before they could be assembled. This product is not a particularly easy one to return so if you order it, it would be worth confirming the absence of damage upon delivery. Great product. I had to add a wood strip to the back to mount it - the mounting option it comes with (a screw) isn't practicle. Still a nice looking product. Very happy with it.

I love the looks of the house. It is too late this season to attract the purple martins, so I don't know if they will like it next year. The biggest problem with this is building it. It took me 8 hours to put it together. (I do have long nails and I was doing it myself) If I could have purchased this already put together, I would have paid an extra $50.00 for it. It would have been worth it.

This wooden bird house is very nice. It was super easy to put together and is made from nice wood, not cheap stuff. The interior walls are the only card board like materials and they are inside. It does take some time to assemble, but the parts are well identified.

I use mine as a general birdhouse, and the Wrens have already moved into the attic section. Other birds have been investigating the two lower levels.

The only downside I see is that it might be difficult to clean out if that is your plan. The roof is screwed on and that would have to be undone to get to the interior, unless you cleaned it out through the holes.

The seed tray is easily installed and a necessity for your tube birdfeeder. It catches the seeds that drop out of the feeder and attracts even more birds to join in on the feast. It's a great size and very durable.

The customer needs to be aware that just because the word Audubon appears in the name of this box that does not mean that the National Audubon Society has recommended this box for cavity nesters. The better place to look for a box recommendation is at the North American Bluebird Society or any of its State affiliates.
These folks work exclusively with cavity nesting birds and are a better source of good up to date information. This, front opening box, is perfectly OK for any cavity nester. Nothing wrong with it at all. Cedar is a preferred wood because it lasts longer. And the price is good as well.
