The scarecrow works. That is it works under ideal circumstances. We have a lot of landscaping and wind trips it too easy. It trips so much (when no animal is nearby) that the batteries run down and it is useless when it is needed. If you have an open area that you're wanting to protect it probably will work fine. However, if you have a lot of landscaping that you are wanting to keep dogs, cats and chickens out of, you may find it to be a disappointment.

Contech SquirrelStop Automatic Spinning Squirrel Deterrent

Have had it a couple of months now and have never seen it not do it's job. Even when the squirrel hangs on. I have seen them hang on for 3 times until they can take it no more. Great fun for the kids to watch. The only problem is that the squirrels tend to not try anymore.

This bracket is an absolute waste. A $15 dollar waste too! I even tightened it with pliers, not just the hand tightening knob, and still wouldn't even adequately hold the Scarecrow in position. No chance of any real adjustment with this junk design either. Ended up using some electrical PVC brackets with great success, cost about $.40 each.

Really can't tell how effective the lure is since we've had strange weather here in Connecticut. Either unusually hot or wild downpours yet we haven't even seen wasps or yellow jackets like we have in past years. So we really can't rate the effectiveness of the lure.

Contech SQRTSCTR002 Squirrel Scatter Bird Feeder

This is an update as of November, 2008. The electronic part of my feeder stopped working. I called Contech customer service and told them I had purchased the bird feeder in January 2008 and it should be covered by the two-year warranty. After a few questions and confirmations, they agreed to send me a new bird feeder. I would put Contech to the top of my list as far as good customer service. I have had two Contech Scare Crow units for five years and the electronics on them still work perfectly. So I hope to get some years on the bird feeder replacement.

The bird feeder has absolutely stopped squirrels from getting on the feeder when the electronics are working. The only real con is that the design of the lid is flawed. It took my backyard ... Read More:
