have owned this feeder for 3 years and came back to buy another for my elderly mom. Seed stays dry, and feeder attracts the smaller birds like goldfinches. It's a great size for holding mixed seed...I fill mine with a 50/50 mix of mixed seed and the more expensive thistle seed and the birds really go for this mix. Easy to fill, and the plastic tube has not yet discolored or darkened, which the less expensive tube feeders will do.

The customer needs to be aware that just because the word Audubon appears in the name of this box that does not mean that the National Audubon Society has recommended this box for cavity nesters. The better place to look for a box recommendation is at the North American Bluebird Society or any of its State affiliates.
These folks work exclusively with cavity nesting birds and are a better source of good up to date information. This, front opening box, is perfectly OK for any cavity nester. Nothing wrong with it at all. Cedar is a preferred wood because it lasts longer. And the price is good as well. Perhaps the squirrels in Maryland are more creative and determined, but ever since we hung the feeder last week, we've been inundated with squirrels in our backyard. So far, we've seen one bird using the feeder. The squirrels are able to balance themselves on the bar without it dropping them in order to get to the seed. Twice they have knocked the feeder onto the ground, spilling the contents everywhere. A relative of ours who also has this feeder reports the same problem. The feeder is more secure now and they can't knock it off, but they are still able to readily get to the seed.

We've admitted defeat to the squirrels, but at least our cats have a blast chasing them out of the yard!

I bought 30 pounds of this bird seed, because I live in Montana and the
description said "for many kinds of birds" WRONG..of all the birds in my part of Montana...not one bird has eaten one seed! What a waste of money.

I really love this peanut feeder. The peanuts I buy are little redskin type and they work very well. The feeder is very durable and the birds really flock to it. I like that it is similar to pecking in little cavities on a tree for the woodpeckers.

I purchased this because it has little perches, but after 4 weeks, it began leaking.....badly. So much so, that I ended up with thousands of ants congregating underneath it. Very poorly constructed.
