There is no reason to put red food coloring into the mix. There are numerous concerns about the effect on hummingbirds. This is reason enough to not buy this product. Buy a product without the dye.

Squirrels were in my feeder the next day. I watched them run up the pole and hop over the disk. Couldn't believe they did it, but they did.
also the disk has to slip over the pole. we had to cut part of the pole to slip the disk on. All this work and the squirrels still out-smarted us.

This bird feeder looked liked the solution to our problem with the squirrels, unfortunatley it is also the solution to the birds we have had the feeder up for a month, and the birds cannot figure out how to enter it, they stand on it, sit on the pole it is hanging on, but cannot get into it. Very disappointed, but it does keep the squirels off.

Perky Pet Hummingbird Feeder Brush

The feeder brush is the best for cleaning. Since it is a sponge, it easily goes in the bottle and also in the bottom holes. I tried a lot of actual brushes, but nothing works this well. Have used them for years and they last a long time.

After a few months, the plastic threads on the screw top cracked which sent the feeder plummeting to its death.

Don't buy this feeder. I wish I hadn't. It doesn't last.

Before it broke, I was fairly happy with it though.

It took a while for the birds to discover this, but once they did -- they are almost non-stop at the feeder. They are going through a whole cake in less than 2 days. I am supplementing with whole grain bread now (which they completely disdain), and a second feeder for seed food. Both are right outside a window where my kitty stays for hours watching the birds.

Truth in advertising. The product doesn't melt and it is easy to handle. Rip open the package and drop it into the feeder using the bag that it came in. No mess, no fuss. Very happy with it.

This is a fine product. It is easy to fill and the hummingbirds seem to like it. My feeder was missing the metal cap when it came so I contacted Parasol. They were very polite and promptly sent the missing item. Most importantly, this product is designed so that it does not drip like many hummingbird feeders do. The only thing that keeps it from five stars is the finish. It is made from recycled glass which is nice but there are rather a lot of glass defects. This is fine if you are going for a rustic look but I'd prefer a smoother finish.
