I had the same problem of intermittent and unexplained restarts. I read somewhere that OCZ recommends a voltage setting of 1.9 volts. This MoBo comes with a default setting of 1.5
Changed it to 1.9 and the problem went away.
First, let me state an obvious thing: this board is not for everyone. It is a small, low-power computer mainboard built, designed and made (although not in that order) to use precisely as that, a small computer.
It measures exactly 17 by 17 centimetres, five centimetres tall. It has an Atom processor running at 1.6 GHz, enough power to run various flavours of Linux and Windows XP, but you don't want to run Vista on it. Why would you want to run Vista at all, I wonder? Well, that's another entirely different question.
It is a very limited board. It has a single memory slot, up to 2 gigs of DDR2 memory, shared with the video chip, which has both a VGA port and a s-video port, so you can plug it to a tv. It also has a single ... Read More:
Had a spare x2 3800 processor and wanted Sata2 ports. No control on Dimm voltages but overclocked 20% easily, far better than an EPOX board I had with the same components. So my wife is very happy because she's got a decently fast system now.
Bought this mobo from Amazon along with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 5000+ BE. The mobo allows me to overclock the CPU to 3GHz and remains stable running WinXP/SP3 (did not try Vista). My mobo came with a BIOS dated Dec 2007 - didn't feel a need to upgrade it since everything is working fine.
If you want SLI plus some additional frills, pay a few more dollars and get the M2N-SLI Deluxe instead. I use that for a 2nd system coupled with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 6000+ running at 3GHz (not oc'd) with Vista/SP1.
In general, I've found Asus mobos to be stable although their documentation leaves a lot to be desired, esp for people new to building PCs.
This board does not come with a Driver CD.
It is really an HP board manufactured by ASUS.
Drivers are not available on either the HP or ASUS web sites.
If you intend to run XP - prepare for some serious archaeology
digging for the drivers.
If you install VISTA - all the drivers will be installed and
updated through Windows Updates.
This board is awesome, I am running Vista 64-bit, with 8G RAM, and 2 1T drive, the board can handle up to 6T I believe. All Sata, has IDE if you need that for your CDROM. All has VMWARE accellartor which you can turn on in the BIOS. If your machine boots slow, you need to know how to upgrad the BIOS. Mine is a MEDIA MACHINE< which records shows 24x7. It is also a Video Encoding machine, running 64bit, QUAD-CORE. It has optical output, 6 UBS, and 2 FIREWIRE. It also has External SATA link, and Network built on. I run an NVIDIO 500M card, the graphics are incredible, This is my DVD which I record shows, and encode them, burn to DVD with added Huadgepauge card. No more spending 10$ a month for Tivo or such. Intel board and chip is a great combo, if you need help ... Read More:
I use this board for an HTPC setup, and as such the HDMI port was a must. I run this system through an Onkyo HDMI 1.3 receiver, and find it syncs well and provides multi-channel audio with easy. Upgraded drivers (vs. what was included) help the stability. There is little legacy with this board, but I don't need that. This one does all that I need at a reasonable price.
