The content on the Apple iTunes store does not offer 1080p for purchase, but you can rent 1080p content or add it (if you can get it) from your computer. There are also 1080p video podcasts. 5.1 digital surround is now supported and you can rip your DVDs using 5.1 with Handbrake software (free download on the web). Handbrake works with Mac OS 10.5 or > and Windows (if you are unfortunate enough to not have a Mac).
Caveats: It does run hot. The video used to lag, but this seems much better with the latest releases of the OS. The GUI can stick and then jump - so you click 3 times with no effect and then it jumps the 3 positions, etc. The remote control is a pain when typing passwords or searching youtube, etc.
Great product. Dual tuners, and multipe PC access to the unit, what more could you ask for? Very well integrated with the Vista Media center. Highly recomend using it on a wired network. 802.11n may work, if your signal is strong enough.
This pulls in with better quality using the USB connection than a PCI card I had from the same company. I sit comfortably at home 13 miles away from the towers and the HD channels in Cleveland come in okay (except for NBC)...the little antennae (or aerial) which came with the stick works better than the powered allegedly HD antennae I got from Target...the usual quirks with digital signals (spotty during storms, etc) are present, but it's more the tranmission from the station than the stick. Works really well with cable connections. Worth the money.
I bought my Canopus 77010150100 ADVC110 Converter back in September to convert VHS tapes to DVD. I've only used it once, but it worked very well.
I converted an 18year old wedding video for one of my wife's co-workers to DVD format. I didn't experience any problems hooking it up to my computer and VCR, or converting the tape to DVD. I used Pinacle 12 to capture the tape and convert it to DVD.
While I was researching this product I read a review that stated "you gets what you pay for!!". In my opinion, I think it's a great product, well worth the money.

I own the WinTV-HVR-1800, the PCI Express version this card. For both cards, the recording quality for standard-definition video is very, very poor compared to previous Hauppauge tuners I've owned (like the WinTV-PVR-500, which unfortunately I sold too quickly).
Additionally, its ClearQAM recording capabilities do not work with Media Center, which effectively means that the feature does not exist.
I had been looking for a device that allowed me to lift mostly TV from my DVR (Tivo) and transport it to my computer for editing or upload to YouTUBE. I discovered the Pinnacle Video Transfer and life has been a breeze. With the simple press of a button I can select what quality I want to record (good, better, best), & start / stop the device. Then once the unit has finalized the recording (a minute or so depending on length) you remove the thumb drive /flash stick and can immediately upload the .mp4 to YouTUBE, iPod, PSP (Sony) or email it to friends. I found the quality of image surprisingly good. We back up vacation video using the portable USB 2.0 storage device for safe keeping. (Direct USB 2.0 output). Well, after more than 2 years of use all I can say that the S-Video input didn't work from day one.
All my tries to get a signal threw it not worked.
So I'm using only the Composite input. Capturing straight to DIVX (My premier rezone for the buy) didn't work on my 2Ghz Pentium. Only when I got my new Core2 (about A year ago) the divx is working, but you have limited options configuring it. So I mainly capturing to MPEG2 and convert to divx with VirtualDub.
Having had an basic Avermedia TV tuner on a Vista desktop for two years, which has worked great, when we started looking for an option for TV for our college-bound daughter, an Avermedia USB TV tuner was our first choice.
I called Avermedia and asked their advice about the best options. The lady I spoke to was extremely helpful. The Avertv Hybrid Volar Max was a brand new product at the time and she recommended this for several of the options and features, including HD and FM, over the basic USB TV Tuner. We were able to find it on Amazon for about $80 (the price has since dropped).
Our daughter has it hooked up to the cable in her dorm and it is an easy and convenient way for her to watch and record TV. Unlike a TV set, she can lie comfortably ... Read More:
