HP EX470 MediaSmart Home Server (AMD Live, Windows Home Server, 500 GB Hard Drive)

I recently purchased an EX470 and my initial glee upon its arrival has been somewhat dampened by the fact that you cannot setup the server if you are running 64-bit Windows client PCs.

The software discs supplied by HP with the EX470 will *only* run on 32-bit Windows, and both of our PCs are running 64-bit Vista.

The Microsoft Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 adds 64-bit client support to Windows Home Server, and this is available for download from the Microsoft Web site. However, to perform the initial configuration and to install this update along with other updates from HP you will need console access to the server, and you can't access the console from a 64-bit client in order to carry out the necessary updates.... ... The Mac mini is really terrific! I previously had a Mac G4 that I
loved. This is 10X better with lots of new programs, and super fast!

I have had nothing but problems with this computer ever since I got it. I am a photographer, and had assumed that with Apple's "reputation" and the ridiculous price of their products, they would produce a quality computer. WRONG. Since the beginning, it has shut down on my randomly, and it doesn't matter how long I have used it, had it on, which applications are being utilized, how many, etc. There is absolutely no method to the madness. Instead of taking it right back to the store like I should have done, I tried to call Apple Support since I had popped the $250 for it and figured I should use it. Every time I called them (after multiple shut downs), they would give me a different "fix," as if there wasn't a single standard procedure, and every operator ... Read More:

I got my Touchsmart about six weeks ago and like it pretty well. It is easy for my kids to use, which is one of the main reasons we got it. I also use it for our main TV just because its on the right level and easy to use there. One day the channel kept changing and we didn't know what was going on until my seven-year-old realized there was a fly walking around on the screen! No complaints about the sensitivity of the touch screen :) The biggest problem I've had with it is the TV tuner connector. I connected the coaxial cable to it and it never seemed to fit right, and it kept getting fuzzy because I couldn't connect it correctly. Good price for a small computer, don't spect a powerfull one, but a good one for the size, price a practical. the only issue if you have to recover your hard drive system, you'll need a external CD drive. the HDD comes in two partitions. with a DVI-HDMI cable you CAN connect to a TV with HDMI input.

After my 10 year old computer exclaimed "Capt'n,I'm giving her all she's got and she's not giving anymore!!!" I knew it was time to invest in a replacement! I am amazed at all the features this unit offers. Wires?? What wires? With the exception of one cord (power of course) this unit does not ensnare you with any wires or cords. You can turn the keyboard anyway you want and position the mouse without having to untangle anything...it's great! The entire family loves the size and the clarity of the 25.5 inch screen. The best part is that there is no CPU, it's all contained in the monitor housing. I certainly won't miss kicking the CPU under my desk! Windows Vista is easy to navigate.
