Like one of the other reviewers, I also purchased the EeePC 701 earlier this year. With it's many shortcomings, it was soon gathering dust.

I was a little hesitant in purchasing another netbook, but I'm glad I took the plunge. This system addresses the problems with the EeePC, and I doubt if it will be sitting idle for any extended period.

The keyboard is fairly large for a system of this size, and is comfortable for typing. The 10-inch screen, with a resolution of 1024x600, is adequate for displaying most web pages with a minimum of scrolling.

One of the better features, in my opinion, is the battery life. With the 6-cell battery, I get 4.5 - 5 hours with the wireless turned on and the screen at 50% ... Read More:

I tested several Dell and HP laptops and this Asus is by far the best of the lot. Performance and quality are much better. And the best reason to give Asus a try is unlike the big companies like Dell, HP, and Lenova, Asus listens to their customers and provides support after your purchase. Name me any other company that due to customer requests, went back and released drivers so you can run Vista, XP, or Linux on the computer (with the generous 320gb hard drive my F8 is setup with a triple boot so I can run all three)! Last but not least is the performance was much better than the other laptops I tried. From now on Asus will be my first stop when I am shopping for a computer (it already was when I was looking for a motherboard).

I placed my customized order directly with Sony on October 28th and received it on October 31st, even though I was told by the website to expect 7 business days to build it (I did opt for the overnight delivery). The packaging was safe and clean and I am completely satisfied, though when buying VAIO's at the store I noticed a lot more pride in the packaging, but who cares.

I now have three q1 ultra premiums. All three units are used as data collection points for garbage route drivers. My oldest is over 5 months old and I love them, No Problems. All three units are inside of otter boxes.

Only one con. When starting the unit without an auxiliary power source, the backlit level is too low making it almost impossible to use.

Well it is a beautiful laptop! I love it.I really , really, really want it, BUT !!!!I cant use it. I got it friday , took it out of the box started it up and BAM! the keyboard does not work. Sony is sending someone over to my house to fix it and I hope they can fix it. We got it from amazon and i hope that if sony cant fix it that amazon will ship out a new one. Ive never had an issue with amazon so i have trust in them.I will keep you updated....

Pros:
Good screen: although mine has a one dead pixel, it is better than my previous ones (IBM T43 and Acer Aspire 5100). It is one of shiny ones, but as others mentioned, they did a good job of eliminating glares.

Nice audio: as far as I know, it is one of the best on a laptop. I have always disappointed on laptop's speakers, but this one rocks! And the microphone and camera work very well too.

Good processor: 2.26GHz P8400 is not the best, but it does much better than may others. For me it is fast enough.

Nice keyboard: I was bit worried about the unusual shape of it, but it is quite comfortable to type. A little wide for my taste, though (I have small hands).
